Uniform PolicySince the spring of 2009, Highfield students have worn uniformsof black pants, white shirts and maroon vests/sweaters with theHighfield crest.  Uniforms are mandatory for all students in Grades 1to 5. Many parents choose to buy a crest for $5.00 which they sewonto a white shirt. Parents can get details regarding purchasing afull uniform from our school office.

Student Life - Where You Belong

Student life at Highfield includes multiple rich opportunitiesfor learning through "real world" authenticconnections using innovative technologies, such as:SMARTboards, iPads and various virtualcommunication tools.  All students are invited to join our daily Intramural lunchprogram and our numerous sports teams and clubs whichinclude: Cricket, Lego, Chess, Math Games, Drama, VisualArts, Dance, Eco-Team, Health and Wellness to name afew!  Our Primary and Junior choirs showcase their talents bothwithin the Highfield community and at events across Toronto.Students are also empowered in key leadership roles asConflict Resolution Managers, Lunchtime Leaders,and Student Ambassadors. Through our partnership with the Albion Boys and GirlsClub, students are welcome to participate in our after schooltutoring and homework initiative to foster an already richacademic life at Highfield. Highfield's Nutrition Program offers students dailyBreakfast/Snack Programs and hot lunches for three daysper week to ensure that all students are best prepared fortheir learning!

• Our partnership with the Highfield CommunityEnrichment Project which supports ourKindergarten classes with Enrichment Workers. 

• Our Volunteers who enrich students and families inmany capacities including within the ParentingCentre and Highfield Nutrition program. The "G.Smith Humanitarian Award" is named after one ofour many dedicated volunteers! 

• We published our very own book with Scholasticentitled, Counting on Zero (ISBN 978 0 545 994057) in 2007. An incredible honour!

Parent and Community Engagement

Our Highfield School Council promotes a positiveschool-community partnership in many ways including initiating aschool uniform policy, ensuring our Safe Arrival process continues toimprove through our Kiss'n'Ride program and new drop offzone. Parents are also active contributors to our school FundraisingCommittee!  Our many wonderful volunteers make our classroomsand programs a true partnership between school and community. Our Action Team Partnership committee includes members fromCouncil, leaders from the local daycare facilities, our CommunityService Partner and from the Highfield Community EnrichmentProject. This dynamic group continues to co-plan and fosternetworking amongst parents. 

Imagine a TDSB where all schools share a common core set of characteristics. They arecommunity-driven and focused on teaching and learning. Students and parents have a wide variety ofopportunities and there are enough students in every school to increase program choices. Imagine there is a clear focus on achieving student success and every student is engaged, has a voice,access to a caring adult and the opportunity to develop their full potential. Here at the TDSB our focus is on student achievement, parent and community engagement and financialstability.
