Benefits to Industry and PES Members from the 2005 Work (provide specific examples and explain what the benefits are):

Chapter Representative:

Chapter Chairman:

Volunteers develop leadership skills and improve their technical skills. They also get to know people who are influential in the power industry. By helping with IEEE activities they actually become influential themselves.

Benefits to Volunteer Participants from the 2005 Work (provide specific examples and explain what the benefits are):

Significant Accomplishments during the year (Please explain why these are significant and include details and examples):Chapter met 7 times, with a variety of speakers and topics. Average attendance was approximately 45. We presentedscholarships to two students from Georgia Tech and one from Southern Polytechnic. We selected an Outstanding Engineer.Several members attended PES general meetings and technical meetings. The PES President (Teddy Puttgen) and President-Elect (John McDonald) in 2005 were both from Atlanta. Atlanta will be the host chapter for the 2006 PSCE, and several chaptermembers are on the local committee to plan that conference. We had a chapter website for current info.

Members who attended the chapter meetings are better informed about technical and professional topics, and they have anetwork of people to help them in their careers. The students who received scholarships plan to have careers in the powerindustry, where new talent is needed. Several of our members are active in the IEEE Standards Association, helping to writestandards and guides used in the industry.

Problems and Concerns: Like all organizations, we're concerned about attracting and retaining active members.

Significant Plans for next year: In 2006, we will continue to have informative speakers at our chapter meetings, with a mixture of topics to appeal to people in industry, academia, and private practice. We will select an Outstanding Engineer, and we'll continue our local scholarship program for students planning careers in power. We will also continue to support the student chapters and our members will continue their standards activities. We will be host chapter for 2006 PSCE.
