Hi. We are Scott and Erika. We have been married for 5 years and been together for 7 years. Our
marriage is filled with love and dedication that has kept our relationship strong even through our
difficult journey with infertility. We value commitment, determination, education, hard work and
laughter to keep life lighthearted. Most of all we value family. We were both raised in close knit
families where we were loved unconditionally and taught the importance of maintaining a strong
foundation for which to build a family. We dream of the day when we can teach a child how to ride
their bike, listen to them read their first book, and be the shoulder for them to cry on after their first
heartbreak. We look forward to talking to you more about your hopes and dreams for your child’s
future and would love to maintain a relationship with you and your family if that is your desire. If that
is not your desire rest assured that your child will know their adoption story and that you loved them
first.
We adopted Petey and
Monty from the local animal
shelter. They love kids and
run to greet the kids next
door when they get off of the
school bus. They can’t wait
to have a brother or sister to
love and protect.
The story of “Us” Our story begins in 2010 when Scott was an ambitious security officer ready to
face the world and Erika was a confident nurse ready to fall in love. Our paths
crossed one day in February 2010 when Erika was teaching a class and was
having difficulty with some equipment. Scott was working as a security officer at
the time and came to her rescue (or so he likes to think). It only took one
conversation (and Erika telling Scott to grow a set of balls and ask for her phone
number) and we’ve been best friends ever since. We shared our hopes, dreams,
desires, and fears and fell in love along the way. We realized early on that despite
Scott being raised in a small farming community and Erika in the suburbs, we
shared similar beliefs and values that brought us even closer. We also discovered
that we both love to travel and make it a point to go on a trip a least once a year.
We love to visit places where we can enjoy beautiful scenery and delicious food.
Our favorite place to travel is Gatlinburg where we rent a cabin, zip line, and enjoy
dinner shows.
Scott (by Erika) Scott would tell you that one of his fondest memories from childhood is decorating the Christmas tree
and then lying underneath it with his father and looking up at the lights. Not only does Scott treasure
memories like this, he also loves the little things in life like the familiar smells on a back country road
or the beauty of the sunrise in the morning. He smiles with his eyes, dances in his dump truck like no
one is watching, and laughs uncontrollably like no one is listening. He is the sound mind when I am
overwhelmed, and the comforting shoulder when I need to cry. He sees the good in every situation
and reminds me to slow down and enjoy the little things in life. He is incredibly kind, caring, sweet and sentimental.
He works hard as a dump truck driver and takes great pride in being good at his job. I can’t wait for the day when I
overhear him softly singing a baby to sleep (he loves to sing), giving them a pep talk before the big game, or tearing
up as they leave for college. He can’t wait for the day when he gets to teach a child to ride a dirt bike. He will be the
most amazing father and will create a lifetime of little moments that a child will cherish forever.

Erika (by Scott) What can I say about my wife Erika? First of all she is my best friend. I would be lost
without her. She is the most intelligent person I have ever met. She is a very motivated
and determined woman. She used those traits to get both her Bachelor’s degree to
become a Registered Nurse and then continued her education and received her
Master’s degree in Nursing and now works as a Neurosurgical Nurse Practitioner. Erika
is a fantastic nurse and is very passionate about her job. She is a very compassionate
and loving person. She would do anything to help someone in need. She is very
devoted to her friends and especially her family. From a young age, Erika has always
had that maternal instinct and I cannot wait until she is a mother. I am very blessed to
call her my wife.

“The Farm” Our friends fondly refer to our home as “the farm” (even though we
have no farm animals or crops). We always knew that we wanted
to live in a small community and made that dream a reality 2 years
ago when we purchased our first home. Our small town has a
village square where we attend many festivals throughout the year
and have breakfast every weekend at the local diner. Our little slice
of paradise includes a 4 bedroom house on 7 acres with a motor
cross track out back. Our barn serves as a motorcycle workshop
and Scott enjoys spending time there working on his dirt bike. We
live in an excellent school district with small student teacher ratios.
We often host family dinners at our large dining room table, and
enjoy the beautiful sunset views on summer evenings. On a cool
night you will find us rocking the evening away in our rocking
chairs on the screened-in back porch or sitting around a fire
Thank you for taking the time to read our story full of traditions, laughter and love. We look forward to meeting you and talking to you more about how we can provide a loving and nurturing home for your child. We can’t wait for the next chapter in our lives to begin when we are fortunate to have a child included in our journey. We hope that your story will combine with ours as we a write a new story of adoption and love for your child. Scott and Erika
Our “Village” We believe that it takes a village to raise a child and our village is strong,
supportive and full of family and friends who can’t wait to support us in
raising a child. Scott is the middle of three boys and Erika is the oldest of
three. Spending time with our family is important to us whether it is
getting together for dinner, banding together to find the perfect Christmas
tree or travelling to Pennsylvania to laugh, joke and play cards with
aunts, uncles and cousins. We treasure our traditions like making the
family recipe ice cream sandwiches for 4th of July or having a sleepover
Christmas eve so that we can wake up in the morning and open presents
together. Our friends are an extension of our family and their children are
just as important to us as our nieces and nephews. We believe that
quality time spent with a child creates a lifetime of memories and shapes
the person that they become. We enjoy spending quality time with our
nieces and nephews by taking them to the zoo, making holiday crafts, or
having sleepovers with movies, popcorn, and chocolate milkshakes
(Scott thinks the milkshakes and popcorn are a weird combination).
