Yasmine and Baby LARA

On Thursday June 18, 2015 very early in the morning Yasmine, a 24 year old housewife from Hebron, went into labor and rushed to Holy Family Hospital so quickly. This is Yasmine’s first pregnancy. Yasmine was following her pregnancy at a doctor outside Holy Family Hospital. Her doctor recommended that Yasmine should deliver at Holy Family Hospital since it is the safest hospital. After arriving to the hospital Yasmine was examined by a Midwife and a resi-dent doctor. Dr. Nihad Salsa’, Medical Director, said “ It was very early in the morning and I was getting ready to go to the hospital when my phone rang; the Resident Doctor diagnosed Yasmine to have umbilical cord prolapsed; a condition that threatens the baby’s survival and immediate measures has to be taken. Within few minutes I was in the Hospital to find a great team work among the hospital staff starting from the Midwifes, the Resident Doctor, the four OB/GYN Consultants, Anesthesia Doctor and the Operating Theater Nurses; the operating room was ready and the patient was already there”. Yasmine describes the situation saying “suddenly I saw more than five doctors surrounding my bed and within seconds I was sent to the operating room and a C/S was conducted” During the surgery there was blood in the uterus, this is a condition called placental abruption which puts the mother and baby at jeopardy and any second is counted for saving the life of both the mother and baby. Dr. Nihad Salsa’, the Medical Director, said” the great team work among the hospital medical team was the reason behind saving the life of both the mother and baby. Within minutes the mother was sent to the operating room and the C/S was conducted and completed” Baby Lara and Yasmine are in a very good condition; their lives were saved.
