Xenia Hotel HERITAGE FOR DEVELOPMENT

Nafpaktia — Greece

Page 2: HERITAGE FOR DEVELOPMENT Xenia Hotel

GREECE

The Xenia Hotel once belonged to a political and cultural figure of Nafpaktos city, Mr. Novas. Upon his death, he entrusted Greek Tourism Organization (GTO) with the right to manage it for 25 years. He designated the Municipality of Nafpaktia as owner, provided that they use it for tourism accommodation purposes only. The GTO built the Hotel Xenia “EVDOKIA”, which reflects the style of the great architect Konstantinidis.

The old hotel, with a surface of 11.580m² is located on the East coast of Lepanto, the capital of Nafpaktia Municipality, and is surrounded by rich plantation with crystal clear streams flowing into the Corinthian Gulf. Xenia Hotel is situated on the Antirrio – Itea national highway; it is very

close to the Bridge of Rio – Antirrio and to the Athens – Patras national highway. There is also a railway connection available from Patras to Athens.

There are several cultural attractions nearby, among which the Medieval Port and the Castle of Lepanto, the Botsaris Museum, the Museum of the Resurrection of 1821 and the Fetiche Mosque.

For reasons that have to do with sustainability and diversification of tourism services, only minor interventions can be made to the asset, in order to adapt it for cultural purposes.
