What is the shelf life on First Sign® Drug of Abuse products?24 months from date of manufacture when kept at room temperature (39˚F-86˚F).

Do First Sign® cups come with a temperature strip?Yes. All First Sign® cups come with a temperature strip.

Are there built-in controls?Yes. There is a built-in control region on the test strips. For facilities that require QC testing, First Sign® has control sets (+/-) available for purchase (Part No.: D0115-TC01 and D0115-TC02).

Are First Sign® Drug of Abuse Tests CLIA Waived?Yes. First Sign® Drug of Abuse Tests are CLIA Waived.

Do we custom make configurations?Yes we do. It may take up to eight weeks depending onconfiguration. Certain conditions may be applied.

How should the product be disposed?The device itself may be disposed as solid waste. Device tested with a donor’s sample should be handled as potentially bio-hazardous material in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

When to collect urine for the test?Urine from any time of day can be used. The minimum detection time varies for different drugs. (Refer to the approximate detection timetable).

What is First Sign® Drug of Abuse Test?First Sign® Drug of Abuse Test is a rapid test for qualitative detection of Amphetamine, Cocaine, Marijuana, Oxazepam, Methamphetamine, Opiate, Methadone, Oxycodone, Phencyclidine, Butalbital, Buprenorphine, Morphine, EDDP, MDMA, and Nortriptyline in human urine. The First Sign® Drug of Abuse Test yields a positive result when a drug and/or its metabolite in urine is at or exceeds its cutoff concentration.

What is a false positive test?The definition of a false positive test would be an instance where the test result from the First Sign® Drug of Abuse Test is positive, even though the initial target drug is not present in the sample. The most common causes of a false positive test are cross reactants. Certain foods and medicines, diet plan drugs and nutritional supplements may also cause a false positive test result with this product.

What is a false negative test?The definition of a false negative test is that the initial target drug is present but is not detected by First Sign® Drug of Abuse Test. If the sample is diluted, or if the sample is tainted or contaminated with a substance this could cause false negative results.

What is the test’s limitation?The First Sign® Drug of Abuse Test provides only a qualitative, preliminary analytical result. A secondary analytical method must be used to obtain a confirmed result. Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) is the preferred confirmatory method.
