Snake bites occur when a snake bites the skin. It can be very dangerous when the snake
is venomous. Venomous animals account for a large number of deaths and injuries, world-
wide. Snakes alone are estimated to inflict 2.5 million venomous bites each year, resulting
in about 125,000 deaths.
If properly treated, many snake bites will not have serious effects!!

We are so happy to publish the first issue of “Ntonton”.
Every month we will publish a new issue about a different topic, this
month’s topic is “my community”.
We hope to make this newspaper a platform for kids in Winneba to
write and read about their day to day life, and gain knowledge from our
different sections in the newspaper.
Also, there are two full pages of
games for you to play and have fun!
Our greatest wish is for you to sit,
change a page and enjoy. Maybe in the
next issue you will be the one writing
something for the newspaper.
The opening of Books & Things, now “Hachatzer”
In the last month a group of volunteers from Israel worked together
with the local kids of the community
near “Books & Things” (near Synclaire
school) to renovate the old building,
that was closed for a long time. On
Tuesday the 29/9/15 was the festive
opening of the place, now called
“Hachatzer”, meaning in Hebrew, “The
Yard”. The Israeli team says the place
will be open regularly for activities to all the kids of Winneba.
Opening hours: Monday to Thursday, 01:45-04:00 PM.

OBED MENSAH:
“The name of my community in
Winneba is “Taxi Rank”. It is a very
neat place. My community
sometimes organize community
games like Visual drawing, Good
cook, Prettiest mom, Strongest
dad and more. We usually do this
after Christmas.
Belonging to the
community is a
great duty.
BERNARD APPAH:
“I am a resident of “Mburabam” community.
This area is located at the southern part of
Winneba. It is a small community with over
300 inhabitants. “Mburabam” is an
environment you can relax and read. It is
highly recommended for people who want to
live in tranquility, as we hardly
record any criminal cases here. But my
community lack some things. There is
no dumping site, only one public toilet
and some parts of the community is
poorly illuminated. I hope it will
improve to be a better place to live.
Long Live “MBURABAM”!
Long Live GHANA!”.

The Israeli team is also working with kids in
more places around the world. One of this
places is Gondar, Ethiopia. Madam Moran
(Adwowa) from the Israeli team asked them
to greet the kids In Winneba, Ghana.
“We are the kids in the different
communities in Gondar, Ethiopia
send our greeting to the kids
from the communities in
Winneba, Ghana. We want to wish
them Good luck or in our language
- Amharic, Melekam edele! ”.
CHRISTABEL FIAGBOR:
“My community is named Akosua
village, it is a fishing community
opposite to the police depot.
We have many coconut trees.
We use coconut
leafs to build our
houses, some people
even have coconut
tree in their houses
for fresh air.
I love my community
because everyone
has a roll to play.
The chairperson and
the assembly men are making sure
that our environment is tidy.
On Tuesdays and Saturdays we do
cleanup so that our community will
be clean”.
RICHARD ARHIN:
“In Akosua village there are plenty of people.
They are very kind to everyone and they love
people. In my community, there are two
beaches one is the sea and the other one is
the lagoon. We go there to
catch fish. When it is
Tuesday my people do not
go to catch fish in the sea.
When it is Wednesday my
people do not go to the
Lagoon to catch fish. This
is because of the god’s in
the river side who we
believe that protect us.
I hope God have mercy on us and we get a lot
of fish and sell them, so our parents will get
money to take care of us and send us to
school”.
ABA MENSIWA-DERX:
“The name of my community is Zongo, it has a mosque, a
school, a church, one public stores and a palace. Most of
the people there are sellers. My community has chocked
gutters, which children play there and get dirty.
The language usually spoke in my community is Mfantse
and Hausa. I like my community because it is a peaceful
community and also has many needed facilities”.
