Nature of the business A consultancy-based resource, specialising in healthcare risk related matters such as infection prevention and control, occupational health and safety and clinical excellence – endorsing ethical, legal and professional compliance where applicable. Diverse, flexible and client centred educational programmes promote current international ‘best practice’ and a culture of continuous quality improvement. Vision To be a valued, reliable scientific and practical resource, available to local and national health care professionals, who play a role in the field of healthcare worker education and patient care delivery, in both the hospital and community settings. Mission To create awareness of the value of quality management systems for the advancement of safer patient care, through the provision of a cost effective, flexible and supportive service which is risk based and SHEQ integrated. Objectives To improve the quality of care to patients through continuing professional education and the promotion of safe clinical practices. To provide forums for the exchange of knowledge pertaining to the practice of infection prevention and control as well as other aspects of healthcare related risk management. To liaise with and/or provide interdisciplinary support to individuals and organisations in these fields with similar goals. Areas of interest and expertise include: Infection Prevention & Control Healthcare associated infections and best practice strategies for their prevention Hand hygiene: holistic, scientific and in-depth training for all levels of healthcare workers TB risk assessment and related staff education and training Infection outbreaks, and in particular, preventive and/or corrective measures for drug resistant pathogens (MRSA, VRE, ESBL and CRE Enterobacteriaceae etc) Incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action planning Induction and/or support of Infection Prevention and Control Practitioners Hazardous Biological (HBA) Risk Assessment and/or review (legal requirement) Advice on the selection and appropriate use of disinfectants for healthcare and clinic use The science and practice of advanced wound management: including lower limb and Diabetic foot ulcers; best practice pressure ulcer prevention strategies and clinical management SHE/Q Systems External auditing of internal processes as well as Catering, Laundry, HCRW Contractors etc Health and Safety Representative training, Incident Investigation, Root Cause Analysis Consultation for, assessment of, or implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Act compliant SHE programmes Hazard identification and baseline Risk Assessments (HIRA) and/or review of corrective action plans Healthcare Professional Development Multidisciplinary short courses and Master Classes are available on any of the above and are CPD accredited by the Health Professions Council of SA – enquiries are welcome.
