Workshops over the

school holidays and theywere lots of fun! The

first WED & FRI we

made budget Maori

Short Pois and practiced

some hitting movements.

The second week the

girls learned a simple

Tahitian Aparima Vini

Vini. Our FREEKRANK workshops will

probably be extended

through for another year!

July 12thHeilani

Polynesian

School of Arts

opened on the

Gold Coast this

past Monday, 12th July

2010! We had an

excellent turnout of over

50 people who came. We

are very grateful for all of

the support that we have

and are excited to get the

two schools tocollaborate as well as get

some friendly

competition going!

July 24thIf anyone would like to

purchase tickets to a

LUAU fundraiser being

put on by Heimanas

extended family [for his

grandma Putus water

pump that had to be

replaced for $10,000] -Tickets are $25 and

includes a Hangi and

entertainment. Some of

the older girls will be

performing for this as

well as Heimanas mum

and sister! Please let us

July 30thThe Halau performance

for this month will be for

the Williams church

culture night. This will

be held at Karawatha

Chapel. Address: 290

Compton Road,

Karawatha QLD. This

will be a performance

open to all!

costumes / uniforms and

have your hair brushednicely. Please bring a

Island Heritage Calendars AvailableThere are only a couple calendars left! First in first served! Cost is $15 and the

calendar features some of our Heilani students and leaders. This is a 16-monthcalendar which goes from November 2010 until February 2012!

Practice VideosPrevious practice videos include: White Sandy Beach, Pele Kahiko Medley and the

Samoan Section. We have now put up the BPAC video and would like everyone to

use this to catch up on your Do the Hula actions as well as Little Brown Gal. Do the Hula

needs to perfected for performing at the End of Year Production. Little Brown Gal is for the new

younger girls to learn and the ones that know it to practice remembering the CORRECT actions!

End of Year ProductionThis year our main focus is towards putting on a great End of Year Production. We have already

booked the Crystal Palace Ballroom at Logan Diggers for Saturday, December 4th 2010. At the

beginning of the fourth term we will ask each student to sell ten tickets to this production. It should

be easy because tickets will only be $10! We will ask that you actually purchase ten tickets from us,and then sell them or keep them to give away! This will make it much easier for us to keep track as it

will be simple - NO TICKET NO ENTRY! All of the new material we have been learning this year

will be debuted at this performance, as well as the new Hawaiian implements and Tahitian costumes!

Even if you see all of our performances this year, the End of Year Production will be totally different!
