HeC Paris Campus

the business environment is changing very rapidly: globalization, increased uncertainty, cutthroat

competition, financial crises, digital-based business models and emerging countries jeopardize established positions. Firms need to respond faster, control costs better, embrace technological change and undertake more often strategic actions like mergers, acquisitions and alliances. these challenges nurture a growing demand for strategic skills:› international companies must refine their strategies,

reorganize their activities and businesses› Consulting firms in strategy, which have boomed over

the last decades, must constantly demonstrate the added value they provide to their clients

as these booming markets require high profile training, the HeC MSc in Strategic Management meets this demand. taught entirely in english, the program lasts 8 to 10 months and is actively supported by top international consulting firms, leading companies and investment banks which participate actively to its curriculum. in addition to fundamental theoretical insights, the MSc in Strategic Management offers a professional framework for consulting based on business cases, strong ties with key industrial players and numerous student-led real-life company projects. Finally, participants from around the world will benefit

from the program’s international exposure, the involvement of the business community and the reputation of HeC Paris as a leading business school in europe. We look forward to welcoming you on campus.

geNeral oVerVieWStrategic management is an essential component of company growth and survival and encompasses two main components:› Strategic analysis, i.e. identification of major trends and sources of opportunities:›› ‘external analysis’ consists in identifying the forces that constrain a firm –be it

from the industry or from competition- and determining the paths of action in order to reach success

›› ‘internal analysis’ refers to how to determine what makes the resources controlled and possessed by a firm valuable, in order for the firm to develop unique paths to performance.

› Structure and organization, i.e. how a company is designed and manages projects. this includes central functions like planning, management control and information system. it also deals with employees’ commitment, corporate values and culture.

in short, strategic management is the art of positioning a firm in a turbulent environment to map out a path to excellence both unique and unmatchable. it requires a great command of analytical frameworks and a rigorous mind.our HeC MSc in Strategic Management aims to fulfill these objectives within a short period of time. this goal is met by leveraging on the specific knowledge and experience that our teachers and instructors bring to the program. they come both from HeC Paris’ outstanding faculty and from the best practitioners working in top firms.Note that we offer two different tracks designed for students with either a business or non- business background:› the Business Track is aimed at recent graduates with a degree from a top institution

in domains related to business administration, management, applied economics, or equivalent

› the Accelerated Track is designed for students with no business related academic background, such as engineers, law, life science, and medical professions.

at the start of the curriculum, the Business and accelerated tracks have their own curriculum but they attend together every week methodological training courses and workshops with top firms that come to HeC campus. From december on, students share courses until the end of their curriculum. at the start of april, Students have two possibilities to complete their curriculum: the company project or the certificate. a third option is available to students with a Master’s degree, the required number of eCtS credits and beneficiary of a job/in-ternship offer: the ‘Mastère Spécialisé‘. Students from both tracks are offered equal career opportunities at the end of the program.
