Key to Striking a Right Work-Life BalanceIn today’s cut-throat competition, one needs to work really hard in order to get professional success.
In addition to outshining competition, everyone wants to achieve financial stability. All of us want to
have a good and comfortable life for our loved ones and we work really hard to achieve that.
However, the problem arises when you spend all your time working hard in order to secure a good
life but forget to enjoy that very life. There is nothing wrong in working hard but it is an irony if you do
not have a life beyond work.
As both professional and family man (and woman), it is your responsibility to make a work-life
balance. It is in not true that the only way to become successful is by compromising on personal
front. By maintaining a proper work-life balance you can feel more alive, happy, and stress-free. You
can even perform better at work place by being content in your life.
The key to a perfect work-life balance is to set your priorities right, doing smart (rather than hard)
work and having good time management skills. In addition to these must have skills, here are some
additional tips which come really handy in striking the right work life BALANCE –
Set your priorities rightFirst of all, decide why you are working and what is that you want to achieve. Is it earning money or
getting a promotion? If money is the sole reason why you are spending most of your time working,
think again.Think what your priorities in life are. Refocusing your priorities will give you a clear idea
on how much time you should invest in your job or career.
Love your jobSo why did you chose the job you are in? I am sure it must be because you love to do it. Well, this
has been said hundreds of time before but it is indeed true that if you are in a job you love, it will not
feel like a job in the first place. On the other hand if you hate your job, it will add to stress and
exhaustion in your personal life as well.
Leaving office? Leave work-stress behindSo you had a tiring and stressful day at office and you have thrown all that stress on your partner? Is
it the right thing to do? No matter how stressful your day has been, respect your family time. Leave
the work-worries back in office. Enjoy with your kids, go for movies, have a family dinner and you will
find yourself all geared up for the next day in office.
Your job is not youSome people believe it is their profession that defines their identity. This should not be the case.
Your job profile is a part of you and is not everything about you. As a professional, you should learn
to set clear distinction between your personal and social life. Remember, you will change jobs and
will retire but your family will be there with you forever.
Pamper yourselfIn addition to distributing time between work and family, you should have some time for yourself as well. Be it going to gym, watching your favorite TV series or reading a book, give yourself some private time. Get enough sleep and rest. And of course it does not harm to occasionally pamper yourself with a massage.
