R ules and Procedures for Students2020-2021

Wearing a Mask

● Masks must be worn in both Alief ISD buildings and vehicles.● Students must put on mask prior to boarding the school bus.● Masks must comply with Alief ISD Standards for Dress and Grooming

○ Bandana face mask, inappropriate slogans or language and/or anything deemed to be a distraction to the learning environment will not be permitted.

● Masks must be worn over the mouth and nose.● Students who fail to comply will be returned to Alief Learns at Home.

Hallw ay Expectations

● Pay attention to any physical guides, such as tape markings on floors or signs on walls.

● Hallways/stairways will be one direction. Follow the arrows on the walls and floors.

● X on the floor means DO NOT ENTER.● Most water fountains will not be available. Students should bring a water

bottle. ● No social gathering in the hallways, common areas or cafeterias. ● Practice social distancing when applicable.

Classroom Expectations

● Teachers may ask students to wipe down surfaces (teacher sprays desk, student wipes desk with paper towel).

● Hand sanitizer will be provided for each classroom and is to be used when entering the class.

● Students will be required to sit in assigned seats. Once students are seated, they are to remain seated for the duration of the class period. Teacher will provide materials for students if needed.

● Students are to bring their electronic devices to school daily. ● No sharing of devices and/or materials.

Cafeteria Expectations

● No Off-Campus Lunch.● Students should bring snacks or drinks as vending machines are not

stocked or open.● Pay attention to the tape markings on seats and signs on walls and floors.● Do not sit where an X is marked.● Respect the social distancing dots on the floor.● Do not crowd the lines, sit down and wait until dots (space) is available. ● Once you get your lunch, return to your table and eat. ● Once seated, remain seated. No movement between cafeterias. ● When the lunch dismissal bell rings, pick up trash, dispose of it in the trash

container and report to class.

Restroom Expectations

● Limited restrooms will be available.● Do not crowd the restrooms, remember social distancing.● Pay attention to any physical guides, such as tape markings on floors or

signs on walls.● Wash your hands and throw your trash in the trash can!

Hygiene

COVID-19 is mostly spread by droplets released when people talk, cough, or sneeze. It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface that has the virus on it and then touching your own face. Therefore, you should:

● Frequently wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds.● Frequently use hand sanitizer (rub until hands are dry, 20 seconds).● Avoid touching your face.● Cover coughs and sneezes using the inside of your elbow.

School Arrival Expectations

● Students must enter through the bus drive, North or South flag poles ONLY.○ No entrance through the gyms or C-Building.

● Only students who are eating breakfast can go to the Cafeterias. If you are not eating breakfast, report to the North or South Gym.○ There will be NO movement between gyms or cafeterias (unless directed by an

administrator).○ No one will be allowed upstairs until the 1st period bell rings.○ No walking the building. Libraries will be closed.

● After 7:20, you must enter through Entrance #3 (the main entrance).

Dism issal Expectations

● Once the dismissal bell rings at 2:35, exit the building and report to your mode of transportation.

● All stairwells at dismissal will be down ONLY. ● Cafeterias will be blocked.● Students participating in UIL activities will report directly to designated

location. ● Late Busses are for UIL students ONLY! ● No social gathering, leave the building immediately.

Clubs, Organizations and Tutorials

● There will be NO in-person clubs, organizations or tutorials on campus.

● All clubs, organizations or tutorials will be held via Zoom.

● No exceptions!

Attendance Expectations

● Any student who chooses in-person learning, must attend school on designated days unless you are sick. Documentation must be provided when you return.

● If you are ill, but are well enough to complete Schoology assignments before 11:59 PM and/or log into live Zoom lessons, you will still have the opportunity to do so until you are well enough to return to school.

● Students who consistently have unexcused absences will return to the virtual learning platform (Alief Learns at Home).

Staying Home if Sick

You must stay home from school if:

● You are feeling sick● You have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19

If you begin feeling sick while at school, tell your teacher. Your teacher will send you to the nurse and the nurse will check your symptoms.

Hybrid Learning

Elsik students whose parents selected in-person instruction will have different hybrid schedules based on their last name.

● Last Names A-L:○ Report to school on Monday and Tuesday.○ Attend virtually from home Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

● Last names M-Z:○ Report to school Thursday and Friday.○ Attend virtually from home Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

● Students will be issued color coded IDs that will identify the days they are to be on campus for in-person learning. IDs must be worn daily.

● Students are NOT to report to school on days they are NOT designated to be on campus!

Failure to follow the rules and ex pectations set forth by A lief ISD and E ls ik High School w ill result in being

placed back on A lief Learns at Hom e.
