What is dating violence?
Dating violence or abuse is the use of behavior to
control a dating partner.
PhysicalUsing physical force with intention to hurt or cause fear –
hitting shoving, kicking, etc.
Verbal or EmotionalIncludes insults, threats, humiliation, isolation,
constantly monitoring, and stalking
SexualAny attempt to control a partner’s sexual activity
DigitalUsing technology to harass or control –
checking cell phones, sexting, stalking social media,
controlling social media accounts and passwords
Many victims suffer all forms of abuse. Verbal and emotional abuse may be more subtle than physical harm, but this doesn’t mean it is less
destructive to victims.

Isolates you from your friends and family
Persuades you to not have a job
Has two sides to their personality
Expresses most emotions in the form of anger
Violent temper and quickly changes moods
Cruel to animals or children insensitive to suffering
Monitors your whereabouts, activities or spending
