Circumlocution: is when you talk your way around a word (using more words

rather than fewer). Use circumlocution to explain yourself when you don’t

know a word.

This is extremely useful for speaking situations!!!!

Objetivo: Take turns being the doctor and the patient. The doctor must first ask the

patient what the problem is, and the patient must describe the symptoms. Then, the

doctor should give the patient advice on how to treat his/her problem. Make sure to

thank the doctor for their help!

6.2 –CAR, -GAR, -ZAR notes (apuntes)

Currently we’ve learned 2 tenses: the present and the preterite (past) tense.

1) Examples of the present tense:

Hablo : I talk, I am talking, I do talk

Vives : you live, you are living, you do live

Ella corre : She runs, she is running, she does run

The present tense can be translated in three ways (see examples above).

There are 3 sets of endings in Spanish for the PRESENT tense. Fill in the charts below.

The preterite is usually translated with an “ed” ending in English.

In the preterite there are a group of verbs called CAR, GAR, ZAR verbs. They are irregular in the

YO form and they end in –CAR, - GAR, -ZAR.
