DRIVER TRAINING FOR SAFETY FEEDBACK “The SDT driver training program shows that we are experiencing a sustained and significant reduction in the rate of light vehicle accidents. This is a very encouraging result! This program is clearly making our workplace safer. I am sure that it has made us safer drivers away from work as well, with benefits for families of drivers and the community in general”. Matthew Orr HSE Manager, PT. Inco, Sulawesi – Indonesia “I would just like to say thanks for all your efforts this last week in bringing all the Instructors along in not only their driving skills and knowledge but also their presentational and instructional skills. This will benefit them all individually as well as the Training department and the Company as a whole. Thanks once again” Frank Sullivan National Training Development Manager, G4S Security Solutions (PNG) Ltd. “The training was excellent. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!. It was very well received by the business. The SDT instructor went over and above his call of duty. He is very helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable in this arena.” Robertson Anis Safety Co-ordinator, Ok Tedi Mining Limited Head Office: Phone: +617 3801 3222 Fax: +617 3801 5455 E-mail: [email protected] Web: www.sdt.com.au Distributors for:

TRAIN THEM… DON’T BLAME THEM!Operating a vehicle fleet in Papua New Guinea requires driver training as part of the risk management strategy to prevent vehicle crashes that result in significant economic losses and compensation claims. In addition, Papua New Guinea has unique driving risks, such as:

- Low licencing standard and no formal driver education

- Basic Road Rules and limited penalties and enforcement

- Unsealed roads, steep gradients, tropical weather conditions

- Security risks from carjacking, robbery and accident with valuable livestock

Everyday your staff are operating dangerous machinery (a motor vehicle) and doing so unsupervised. Just by being on the road, they put themselves, the company vehicle and other road users at risk. Your company vehicle fleet and drivers are expensive and valuable assets worthy of effective risk management.

The true value of safe driving will only become apparent when the real costs of bad driving are fully understood. A driver’s licence alone does not make your drivers safe, afterall the road network and vehicle technology is constantly changing but there is no updating or retesting of drivers. You cannot expect people to drive safely unless they have been shown how and given reasons why.

Train them don’t blame them. In conjunction with Safe Drive Training, your organization can introduce a SAFE DRIVING PROGRAM that provides cost effective risk management and meets your OHS obligations.

ABOUT USSDT is Asia-Pacific’s leading driver training company. We have operated across Papua New Guinea, West Papua, Micronesia and Solomon Islands to improve driver and company fleet safety since 2008. Our recent clients include: Esso Highlands, CJJV Laba, G4S, Ok Tedi Mining, Talisman Energy, Parker Drilling, South Asia Exploration, Ela Motors, ANZ Bank, BMI Freeport Mine, South-Pacific Oil, FSM Petroleum Corporation, Total Fuel (Fiji).

UNIQUE CONTENT TAILORED TO CLIENTUnlike other training companies, we don’t roll out training packages developed in the USA or Europe that are suited to fully trained and licenced drivers operating on well-built motorways. SDT has photographed and filmed unique content in-country to develop programs that are tailored to PNG conditions and are more relevant to PNG participants. In addition we have unique driver training resources like Fatal Vision Beer Goggles, TVL – Tunnel Vision Lenses, Skid Tyres and driving simulators. Training can be delivered to Australian Nationally accredited training standards. These programs have become the mining and gas industries minimum standards for site-driving requirements.
