Steve Baggett worked on the thoughts for

Matthew 16-20 for this week. If you get behind–

don’t panic! Just start on the current date, and

try to read ONE extra chapter and devo each

day until you catch up. It usually only takes

about 10 minutes to do both a chapter and its

devotional thought, so find time and catch up to

us!

Jesus gives his listeners a LOT to think

about in this week’s readings– tell me what

comes to mind when you read these questions:

Petersville Church of Christ Weekly Bulletin ~ January 21st, 2018

Chapter 16 contains one of the greatest pro-

phetic statements by Jesus– How does Steve

use that statement to consider the church?

What does ACTS stand for, and how does it

relate to the events at the Transfiguration in

Matthew 17?

What are some of the thoughts on the King-

dom that probably threw the disciples for a

loop in chapter 18? Why?

What are the three points on marriage Steve

makes this week from Matthew 19? What is

one more thing YOU would add to them?

Jesus says in Matthew 20 that he came to

serve. But what response did two blind men

make after Jesus served them? What does

that mean for us today?

Spend some time with others thinking about

these things, and you will be blessed!

Year 38, Volume 8, Issue 3

He Was Watching Leslie Flynn in Dare to Care Like Jesus tells the following story: “A Christian baroness, living in the highlands of Nairobi, Kenya, told of a young national who was employed as her houseboy.

After three months, he asked the baroness to give him a letter of reference to a friendly sheik some miles away. The baroness, not wishing the house-boy to leave just when he had learned the routine of the household, offered to increase his pay.

The lad replied that he was not leaving for higher pay. Rather, he had de-cided he would become either a Christian or a Mohammedan. This was why he had come to work for the baroness for three months. He had wished to see how Christians acted. Now he wanted to work for three months for the sheik to observe the ways of the Mohammedans. Then he would decide which way of life he would follow.

The baroness was stunned as she recalled her many blemishes in her deal-ings with the houseboy. She could only exclaim, “why didn’t you tell me at the beginning.”

“He that says he abides in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. (1 John 2:6)

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men

light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light unto all

that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good

works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16)
