I will sing sing a new song, to the Lord.

Let Your Kingdom come let Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.Ev’ry heart proclaim, the mercy of Your name, on earth as it is in Heaven.

Good, Good Father Chris Tomlin

I’ve heard a thousand stories of what they think you’re like,But I’ve heard the tender whisper of love in the dead of night,

And you tell me that you’re pleased,And that I’m never alone.

(Chorus) You’re a Good, Good Father. It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are

And I’m loved by you.It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am.

Oh, and I’ve seen many searching for answers far and wide,But I know we’re all searchingFor answers only you provide,

Cause you know just what we needBefore we say a word. (Chorus Twice)

+ RESPONSIVE PRAYER & LORD’S PRAYER Kristen Jeide Leader: Let us join our voices together in a prayer for Lent.

All: Eternal God, you created us for balanced lives of faith, hope, and love. Yet, many days we feel like a fiddler on a roof, trying to scratch out a pleasant tune without losing our balance. Use these days of Lent to affirm us in faith, ground us in hope, and steady us in love. Work in us, and through us, to re-store balance in our lives, our families, our communities, and our world.

Leader: All this we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray saying: All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

May the Lord protect and defend you. May He always shield you from shame.May you come to be, In Israel a shining name.

May you be like Ruth and like Esther. May you be deserving of praise.Strengthen them, Oh Lord, And keep them from the strangers’ ways.

May God bless you and grant you long lives. May God make you good mothers and wives.May the Lord protect and defend you. May the Lord preserve you from pain.

Favor them, Oh Lord, with happiness and peace. Oh, hear our Sabbath prayer. Amen.

+ SENDING SONG The Solid Rock Edward Mote arr. Travis Cottrell My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ love and righteousness, I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

(Chorus) On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand, All other ground is sinking sand. (continued)

When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on God’s unchanging grace, in every high and stormy gale, My anchor holds within the veil. (Chorus)

When He shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in Him be found, Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne. (Chorus Twice)

MUSIC NOTES: (Autumn Toussaint, Director of Contemporary Music Ministry) Tevye (the dairyman, and main character of Fiddler On The Roof) and his family welcome guests in their home for the Sabbath in the particular scene you see this morning. Along with Tevye, his wife Golde, and daughters Tzeitel, Hodel, Chava, Shprintze, and Bielke, they welcome Motel, the local tailor, and Perchik, a student passing through (often considered by some to be a radical). This is a modern version of the prayer usually said as part of the Friday evening ritual ushering in Shabbat, the weekly Sabbath. It calls upon God, in His mercy and compassion, to keep and protect the Jewish people from any harm and, equally import-ant, to not stray from the Jewish traditions found in the Torah. The Sabbath table is adorned with at least two candles (representing the dual commandments to remember and observe the Sabbath), a glass of wine, and two loaves of challah (bread) to represent the dual portion of manna that God provided for the Israelites. The candles must be lit no later than 18 minutes before the sun goes down. They are lit by the woman of the house, and after lighting them, she waves her hands over the candles, welcoming in the Sabbath. She then proceeds to cover her eyes, so as not to see the candles before reciting the blessing. This prayer acts as a counterpoint to the tension in the scene directly preceding it, reflecting on the normal emotions and disagreements often found in families. As the cast has discovered throughout the rehearsal processs, the families of Anatevka are not that different from our own.....
