Luke 15:11-24 11 And he said, A certain man had two sons: 12 And the younger of them said to his father,  Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth  to me. And he divided unto them his living. 13 And not many days after the younger son gathered  all together, and took his journey into a far country,  and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

14 And when he had spent all, there arose  a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. 15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country;  and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 And he would fain have filled his belly with  the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

17 And when he came to himself, he said,  How many hired servants of my father's  have bread enough and to spare, and I perish  with hunger!18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say  unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, 19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son:  make me as one of thy hired servants.

20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when  he was yet a great way off, his father saw him,  and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against  heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe,  and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it;  and let us eat, and be merry: 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again;  he was lost, and is found.  And they began to be merry.

How do we get people to ‘come to themselves’..?

1.  Some things you can do for others.   Gal.6:10

2.  Some things others can do for you.  Casting all your burdens upon him, for he careth for you.” I Pet.5:7 Bear ye one another’s burdens..Gal. 6:2

3.  Some things you must do  yourself.                                                 Gal.6:5

Some things all Christians need ..

1.  We need to beware                                    1.  I Cor.10:12                                   2.  2 Cor. 13:5

2. We need to face the truth: The sad fact that many of those converted, return to the World.

1. Gal. 4:9-11                                   2. 2 Pet. 2:20-22

What this man needed to do, manymust do the same.~~ “       He       Came          To              Himself”

What does it take to get people to“come to oneself”?

Page 12: He Came to Himself LUKE 15. God is calling the Prodigal Song

He learned that the choice he had madewas a bad one. He left home! Luke 15:13

Verse 13 “And not many days after (he had his inheritance) The younger son gathered all together ,journeyed to a far country, He got away from his father and all the family! All of us have to make choices in life: Joshua 24:15 Choose you this day Ez. 18:20 The soul that sinneth it shall die.

He wasted his posessions with riotious(loose) living. V. 13

Ever been broke!   Flat broke!  Didn’t have anything. Hopefully, it was not poverty by ‘riotious “  living.      1.  Warned against drunkenness!/  So many spend it all.  I Cor. 6:9-11    2.  Warned against sexual immorality.  Gal.5:19-21    3.  Warned against drugs.  Matt.15:19-20        It would be easy to waste your living, or inheritance with        ‘riotious living”

He learned what it was like to be hungry,downtrodden..and seemingly no one cared. No Friends now..all the money is gone. No Family…far away from them. Destitute in a land where no wants you, or cares for you.

The opposite is true with God’s people. They share with each other.  Gal. 6:10; Psa. 37:25

Page 15: He Came to Himself LUKE 15. God is calling the Prodigal Song

He learned that what you sow, that is what you reap.

Gal. 6:7,8

Page 16: He Came to Himself LUKE 15. God is calling the Prodigal Song

ButHe remembered the ‘good ole days’.

In my Father’s house. He knew what it was like now to be outside of the  Family. I Tim. 3:15.  How many miss so much…a memory of a good home, Proper bringing up, and (Prov. 22:6)  would be so valuable.

How many have lost their children to the world…but when they  Finally come to themselves…they remember!

Page 17: He Came to Himself LUKE 15. God is calling the Prodigal Song

He came to himself…and did somethingabout it.

It is sad to give in to sin.   Rom.3:23   which we all do. All of us, yea all who are capable of sinning.  Have sinned.   Rom. 6:23.

This young man, got up, and did something about it. “I will go to my father…and he went”!

He didn’t do it until he ‘came to himself.”

Page 18: He Came to Himself LUKE 15. God is calling the Prodigal Song

Outside of God’s family, you havenothing. What can the devil offer you? Yes, he offered an alternative to doing what God said to Adam and Eve.  Gen. 3:1ff And they listened and turned to to the devil..  Instead of God.       They died!.   You will too…if you don’t come to yourself And get right with God!

Page 19: He Came to Himself LUKE 15. God is calling the Prodigal Song

He came to Himself Have you?  Have I?   To see your loved ones sick, and dying…that should Cause you to ‘come to yourself”   But, to know, that you have a Friend in Jesus, who Loves you more than anyone else you know..…who has paid the Price for your sins and mine…why would you refuse Him.?   Rom.5:8,9;   Rom. 6:16-18      Your mother can’t do it for you,  your dad can’t do it for you. Your wife cannot do it for you, your children.  your parents…

What rejoicing! Luke 15:22-24

Put on Him the Best Robe! Put on him a ring on his hand! Put on him sandals on his feet! Kill the fatted calf And let us eat and be merry!    My son which was dead, is now alive again!   He was lost and his found!

Page 21: He Came to Himself LUKE 15. God is calling the Prodigal Song

“I have found my sheep that was lost!”Luke 15:1-10 What rejoicing in Heaven over  One sinner that rejoiceth rather Than 99 just persons that need no Repentance!
