Thank you for the generous gift and the beautiful keepsake painting by Becky Ward. Thank you to Carol Hatcher for the beautiful flower arrangements with my favorite flowers. Thank you to Marie Boatright, Kathy Matson and their team of incredible women for a delicious reception and especially for providing a requested treat, the cucumber sandwiches. Thank you to David Brackett and Margaret Rauber for you kind words. Thank you to Tim Spraggins, Julia Rice, Areitha Lockhart and the choir for the music that makes my heart soar. Thank you to all who made the day such a gift for me and my family. I know it took so many to make the day special and I will be eternally grateful. "I thank God for every remembrance of you...."

What: Church Council-Called Meeting When: Next Sunday, Oct. 1, Noon (immediately after the worship service) Where: Front pews of the sanctuary after worship service

We have learned that our Charge Conference will be Oct. 8. Therefore, our Committee on Nominations and Leadership Development has worked throughout the month of September to recruit and guide our 2018 church leaders. Dr. Tommy Green is chair of that committee.

Church Council is required to approve the work of the Nominations Committee. The Oct. 1 meeting will be short and does not supersede our last regular meeting of the year on Nov. 5. For more information or questions please contact Sarah Fedota, Administrative Council Chair, ([email protected]) or Matt Goodman ([email protected]).

We hope you'll also join us in a few weeks for a great evening of BBQ, music, and a fundraising raffle on Tuesday, October 3, at 6:00pm. at the new Monday Night Brewing (MNB) facility in the West End. Tickets are now available for $25, which gets you free beverages, BBQ from Sweet Auburn BBQ, and live music. You can purchase tickets at: http://intowncm.brownpapertickets.com/ MNB is helping 19 Atlanta nonprofits raise a total of $100,000 in their first 100 days, including Intown Collaborative Ministries. So, get your tickets today to support Intown and get ready for a great night of fun!

Friends, we are trying to gauge interest in an Adults Plus ministry here at Haygood UMC. This would give adults the opportunity to spend time together at various venues and events such as dinners, museum visits, and other social outings. We feel this will be a great way for our Adults Plus crowd to interact with one another and engage in our community. Please find a survey to fill out or visit www.haygoodumc.org and click the Adults Plus survey banner to take the very short online survey. It should take no more than 2 minutes. We look forward to seeing what you have to say. For more information, please contact Ashley Brookins, [email protected].

@HaygoodUMC

Every 66 seconds another person is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and must have care. Another family is thrown into chaos having been given little or no instruction in providing that care. Today, four out of five of those families fracture under the stress of caring for a family member who lives with Alzheimer’s or related dementias. How do you minister to these families?

Join Due West UMC, in Marietta, GA for a free workshop on October 12th, from 9:00am-12:00pm, on this important topic. There will be guest speakers to educate attendees on this subject. For more information or to carpool from Haygood UMC at 8:00am, on October 12th, please contact Wally Rice at 404-277-4588 or [email protected].
