Mission Statement

TO PRODUCE FOOD FOR THE

PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE

OF SOUTH AFRICA

Page 4: Harvesting Africa’s Potential The South African Agri-Village Project Presented by ARDAU ACT INTERNATIONAL (Africa)

Our Vision

Our vision is to apply the Spirit of the

South African nation to increase

Food Production, Create Work,

Income and Prosperity in order to win

the battle against Crime, Malnutrition

and Poverty in the country.

Every person MUST have sufficient

Food and clean Water everyday.

Page 5: Harvesting Africa’s Potential The South African Agri-Village Project Presented by ARDAU ACT INTERNATIONAL (Africa)

The Basic Problem Food production and Job creation has

NOT followed the trend rate of

population increase. De-population of the rural regions

resulted in squatting around towns and

cities. Poverty and disease followed

immediately. Crime has become a way of Life.

THE SA AGRI-VILLAGEPROJECT:

THE CONCEPT:To create community farms with very INTENSIVE &

CONTROLLABLE production technologies. To modify all of the produce to value-added

marketable products. To establish an Agri-village complete with all of the

infrastructure requirements for all of the participants. To supply electricity from the Ardau Power Plant for

the Agri-village’s use and any excess can be fed into the national grid under license.

To re-cycle all waste to value-added saleable products.

Material Sourcing Section: Cattle

– Cattle between the ages of 18 months to 4 years will be bought from local communities and other cattle farmers.

– Cattle will also be bought on auctions.– A cattle breeding scheme will be

introduced to local and developing farmers and communities to rear good quality beef cattle calves.

– A calf breeding unit will also be established on-site.

THE ECO INDUSTRIAL FARM:ANIMAL HUSBANDRY

– Skins to tanning factory on-site.– All waste water from above to be

used as make-up water for power

generation.– Potable water returned to feedlot

as drinking water for the cattle.

Material Sourcing Section: Fodder Materials

Fodder to be produced by an onsite Feed Mill factory.

Feedstock such as maize, barley and lucerne will be outsourced to established and developing farmers in different regions.

Should soil condition and the area be suitable a separate dedicated project could be launched to provide these materials on-site.

Page 25: Harvesting Africa’s Potential The South African Agri-Village Project Presented by ARDAU ACT INTERNATIONAL (Africa)

Central Marketing Organization (CMO)

The CMO will be responsible for the marketing of all the products produced on the ECO-Industrial farm.

Only flowers will be exported to contracted Countries.

CMO will also be responsible for the procurement of basic materials required for all feed stocks and other materials.

CHICKEN & FISH PRODUCTION:

These Sections will be dealt with in a similar way as the Cattle Section of Animal Husbandry.

Fish will be bred in plastic ponds raised above ground level inside protective heated Greenhouses.

Secondary spent heat from the Ardau Power Unit to achieve climate control in all Greenhouses.

All waste materials containing

hydrocarbons will be utilized for

power production. All waste water will also be used

at the power generation plant

and be returned as potable water

for reuse.

Page 29: Harvesting Africa’s Potential The South African Agri-Village Project Presented by ARDAU ACT INTERNATIONAL (Africa)

Product Processing Section: Chicken & Fish will be treated the

same as the red meat. A second phase to this Project

would be the canning of a

percentage of the various meat

products for people not having

cooling facilities.

THE ECO INDUSTRIAL FARM: GREENHOUSE AGRONOMY

Large Scale intensive greenhouse farming nullifies

the effects of inclement weather, poor soil

conditions, excessive fertilization and frequent

irrigation no crop production. Apart from vegetables and flowers to be cultivated

utilizing this method, it will also be applied to Aqua

Culture. The yield per hectare exceeds that of extensive

farming many fold.

Page 31: Harvesting Africa’s Potential The South African Agri-Village Project Presented by ARDAU ACT INTERNATIONAL (Africa)

This method of cultivation creates large

scale employment and training opportunities. This method is used extensively in many

arid parts of the world. Optimal climatic control, irrigation and

fertigation are computer controlled. Enhanced yields can be achieved by the

addition of carbon dioxide originating from the

Ardau Power generating plant.

FLOWER CULTIVATION: The first phase of this project is the

establishment of 25-50 ha Greenhouses for

the cultivation of flowers for the export

market. The various supportive section will be

established and the personnel to be trained

by qualified Agronomists.

Page 33: Harvesting Africa’s Potential The South African Agri-Village Project Presented by ARDAU ACT INTERNATIONAL (Africa)

THE ECO INDUSTRIAL FARM: GREENHOUSE AGRONOMY

Packing and cooling facilities will be constructed to preserve the flowers before being dispatched to overseas markets.

Seedling, pot plant and fern cultivation is a major export item.

All of the waste organic materials that cannot be utilized for electricity generation, must be composted.

THE ECO INDUSTRIAL FARM: Technical Training CenterPhase 2

A Training Centre can be established to train Farmers for the Future.

A local Agricultural College will be appointed to manage all facets of Training and Skills Transfers.

All personnel to be trained will do an Aptitude test to determine their abilities to be trained for a specific type of job.

Theoretical and Practical training form part of the job description. Various stages have to be passed before a candidate could be promoted.

Page 43: Harvesting Africa’s Potential The South African Agri-Village Project Presented by ARDAU ACT INTERNATIONAL (Africa)

Training will be divided into four divisions:–Teaching illiterate adults and minors to read

and write.–Transferring of skills or be trained for a

specific job.–Training of Administrative personnel.–Students who excel in agriculture, will be

funded to expand their qualification at Technical Institutions or Universities.

THE AFRICAN AGRI-VILLAGEPROJECT :

The Housing Estate, Clinic & School A housing estate to accommodate all personnel working in the Agri-village will be constructed. All the required services such as streets, electricity, potable water, sewage treatment domestic waste recycling etc. will be provided. The Villagers will form their own Management Council and will have two members on the Board of the Agri-Village Co-operative.

MINI SHOPPING CENTRE: A small shopping centre will have the

necessary shops to cater for the normal daily

domestic needs. A primary school will cater for the children up

to grade 7. A crèche will cater for the children of all

working mothers free of charge.

Page 46: Harvesting Africa’s Potential The South African Agri-Village Project Presented by ARDAU ACT INTERNATIONAL (Africa)

A registered clinic will operate from the

shopping centre and will be staffed by qualified

registered personnel. The operational cost of the clinic will be paid by

the Co-operative. Administrative offices for the Agri Village will

form part of the Shopping Mall.

“THE ULTIMATE GREEN REACTOR”

The Advanced Carbon Technology (Ardau

Power Plant System) uses waste coal,

methane, natural gas, municipal organic waste,

animal manure, sewage, sugar cane tops,

waste wood and alien vegetation, to generate

constant, high quality electricity.
