Bivariate Hypothesis:

Rap music is a means of expression for people worldwide. It has broken racial and ethnic

barriers on a large scale. Based on this data, 52.4 percent of people between the ages of 18-29

like rap music. 47.6 percent of people dislike rap music. 29.3 percent of people between the ages

of 40 and 49 like rap music. 70.7 percent of people between the ages of 40 and dislike rap music.

Thus, more people dislike rap music (68.4%), compared to those who like rap music (31.6%).

My hypothesis is that most people from the ages of 30 and older, dislike rap music.

Bivariate Discussion:

The information on the data tables were completely different from what I expected. I thought that

rap music was liked by at least 40 percent of Americans. This data shows that the majority of the

older generation from the age of 30 and older, dislike rap music. Rap was invented by the people

of the older generation, yet most of them seem to dislike rap. Rap music is not how it use to be. It

has become more vulgar and real. This could be the reason why the generation that invented rap

has outgrown it.

Multivariate Hypothesis:

Rap has united many people from different backgrounds and social classes. Based on the data,

more of the Black Respondents liked rap music than the White Respondents. 73.2 percent of

Whites dislike rap music. 42.2 percent of Blacks dislike rap music. My hypothesis is that more

Blacks like rap music than Whites.

Multivariate Discussion:

I did expect these results. Black people are the pioneers of rap music therefore, its obvious that

they would enjoy it more than Whites. People dont always understand or like something that is

new or different. In addition, many Whites cant relate to the backgrounds of the rappers or the

things that they have been through. Thus, rap music doesnt always appeal to everyone. This

playsa part in why most Whites dislike rap music.
