ABouT HArBour HIKEIt’s one of Sydney’s best kept secrets, but now the sheer beauty, idyllic views, natural bushland and wildlife surrounding Sydney Harbour will be the focus this Father’s Day. The inaugural SIMS Harbour Hike is an 11km community walk from under the Sydney Harbour Bridge around the harbour foreshore paths on the lower north shore and through Sydney Harbour National Park to Clifton Gardens Reserve, Chowder Bay, Mosman, the home of SIMS.
Take Dad, your family and friends, your school or workmates, on one of the best walks in the world past majestic Federation homes, beautiful bays, classic boats, bountiful bushland and spectacular views of the city while having fun understanding more about Sydney Harbour’s unique marine environment and history. Enter to win great prizes.
THE CourSEStart under the Harbour Bridge at Bradfield Plaza, Kirribilli from 7am – choose your start time until 11am. Each registered participant receives an event passport, free drink bottle and ferry ticket to take you from the finish at Clifton Gardens Reserve back to Kirribilli. At ten checkpoints along the course, teams will be asked multiple choice questions about Sydney Harbour’s marine environment and history. Simply fill in your passport and teams with the most correct answers will win great prizes.
ABouT SIMSThe SIMS Harbour Hike will help the Sydney Institute of Marine Science (SIMS) raise funds for its important research and community education projects. SIMS is NSW’s premier marine institute, based on the harbour shores at Chowder Bay, Mosman. A collaboration of four NSW universities as well as state and federal marine and environmental agencies, SIMS plays a vital role in protecting and preserving Sydney Harbour.
