Mr. David M. Bollinger- President

Bollinger Communication Consulting

601 S. College Road

Wilmington, NC 28403

Dear Mr. Bollinger:

Understanding and relating to the global market has become a critical tool for many

thriving companies to have continued success. Our team can identify with this need to be

competitive and the significance and impact that market globalization has on the potential

for financial growth and stability. Our training and development workshop will inform

and clarify the various forms of harassment in the workplace which will result in

improved office moral, ensure a more cohesive and safe work environment and will

ultimately protect your organization from the implications of harassment lawsuits which

can be detrimental. Arguably, harassment is a broad topic which explores interactions

from interpersonal encounters in the workplace especially in a complex system of

international affairs and worldwide interpretations of what appropriate professional

behavior may or may not include. In order to extend the reach of our organization’s goal

to penetrate the rapidly evolving global marketplace, we need to understand one of the

main factors plaguing many companies in today's business which incredibly enough is

harassment. We pride ourselves in providing our dedicated, knowledgeable, goal-oriented

team of qualified individuals that have made it their personal mission to provide optimum

service that is cost effective and offers immediate long-standing results.

HR Directive Background:

Human Resources Direct defines harassment as “any physical or verbal conduct

demonstrating hostility toward a person.” This definition is broad, not limiting. Many

people think of harassment as being sexual harassment, although the reality of the

situation shows that harassment can be defined through broad categories: age, religion,

gender, race, and country of origin to name a few.

Harassment in the workplace- a Problem?:

Harassment is a topic that is often joked about in the workplace. Few realize the

seriousness of the issue and what is at stake when harassment is not taken seriously.

Sexual harassment is the most familiar form of harassment for many people within the

United States. The U.S Equal Employment Commission found that in the year of 2008

alone, 13,867 sexual harassment cases resulted in charges (this number reflects only

successful complaints) and recovered $47.4 million dollars in monetary benefits for

the charging parties (this number does not reflect cases settled outside of the legal

system). Please note the emphasis that sexual harassment is not the only form of

harassment seen, it is simply the most common.

Harassment is not exclusive to workplaces in the United States. In actuality, one who is

uneducated on the customs and beliefs of business associates in other countries may find

it far easier to offend or harass another individual. Being aware of these customs, code of

ethics and belief systems of business associates in foreign countries significantly

improves workplace relations and the chances of developing ones business.

Our Purpose:

The purpose of this training is to heighten awareness of the serious problems that arise

from the many different forms of harassment. Being aware of the types of harassment

will not only benefit workplace cohesiveness and place emphasis on strengthening inter-

employee relationships as mentioned previously, but will benefit the

organization/company’s image and reputation.

Proposal Plan:

The training and development session will be held on October 20th

, 2011 at the

University of North Carolina-Wilmington’s Madeline Suite. Attendees will be divided

into groups of five. This training workshop will begin at 8:00am until 5:00pm. Upon

arrival, all attendees will be provided breakfast and the first session will begin promptly

at 9:00am. The topics will be introduced and developed by our team presenters, Ms.

Brittany Bryant, Mrs. Yanet Diaz, Mr. Matthew Easton and Mr. Jared Sales. The

following sessions have been assigned as follows to ensure that all aspects of harassment

are covered thoroughly and clarification is made regarding the various cases, judgments,

implications, laws and policies enacted included but not limited to the most current

available regarding each session topic. Please review the session schedule and

understand that this is a flexible schedule that can be modified and tailored to fit your

needs more specifically if necessary.
