consider ¬ ation with the result that the stage has been benefited thereby and the public quick in placing its approval upon the same has refuted the many assaults made derogatory to the mis ¬ sion of the stage and Its place among the many agencies of education that heretofore have been associated sole ¬ ly with the college the lyceum or tne rostrum In the exposition of such topics the dramatist has fulfilled a dual mission first he expects certain conditions that If consigned within the two covers of a book would prob ¬ ably never reach tho very class of people that his message Is most ap- plicable ¬ to secondly by writing a theme that demands the employment- of actors who can act and who are not the mere models esentlal to the display of modistes art thus the stage is benefited very materially for by this very employment it retards the practice ot fostering upon the public players who possess more money than talent or whose chief asset is noto- riety ¬ in tho divorce court or In some big public scandal I note with pleas- ure ¬ the frequency this season of the critics mention unknown to Broad- way this confession clearly sustains fly argument made many times that there are a great many excellent players who owing to tho scarcity of parts that demand playing are kept hidden In the vast provincial territory- of America and are never given the opportunity of playing before a metro- politan ¬ audience to show what artistic material they do possess the fault lay more with the dramatist than with the manager had the dramatist paid more attention to the construc ¬ tion of Gundershelmer well known throughout the city died yesterday morning at his home No 615 North Spring street after an illness of a few weeks Death was due to acute nephritis and comes as a severe blow to his relatives and large circle of friends throughout the city Mr Gundersheimer was a native of New Orleans but has spent many years in Pensacola where he has made his home He had reached the age of 31 years and was universally liked by all with whom he was ac quainted- The funeral services will be con ¬ ducted this afternoon at 330 oclock- at the family home and the interment will be in the Margaret Macjay and those j who have been fortunate enough to hear these two gifted vocalists will assuredly be present The lesson being the ship wreck of Paul it will be demonstrated by a real ship on I the platform It Is the aim of the Bible class cabinet of officers to give practical lessons by sight as well of hearing and thus impress the less- on upon the minds of the scholars Preaching This Evening Sunday evening at 730 regular preaching by tha director of the Mis- sion Rev R W Simpson with a half i hour of good choral singing preceding it These services are interesting and are well Gustave Gundershelmer well knownthroughout the city died yesterdaymorning at his home No 615 NorthSpring street after an illness of a fewweeks Death was due to acutenephritis and comes as a severe blowto his relatives and large circle offriends throughout the city

Mr Gundersheimer was a native ofNew Orleans but has spent manyyears in Pensacola where he hasmade his home He had reached theage of 31 years and was universallyliked by all with whom he was acquainted-
