Matthew 6:  “Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds

before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.  . . .  

“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men . . .    

“Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. . .

WHY WE GIVE

Leprosy exists in Egypt, India, China, Vietnam and even some in the US

More than 1 billion people in the world do not have access to clean water

Every year 6 million children die from not getting enough food before their 5th birthday

More than 800 million people go to bed hungry every day, 300 million are children

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.  All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.  Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’  “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?  When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?  Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ 

 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:  for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;  I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ 

Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’  Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’  And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

HOW TO GIVE?

“And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not LOVE, it profits me nothing” 1 Corinthians 13:13

So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, NOT GRUDGINGLY or of necessity;. . . 2 Corinthians 9:7

 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites. . . So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury;  for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in ALL THAT SHE HAD, her whole livelihood.” Mark 12:41-44

But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,  that your charitable deed may be in SECRET; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly. Matthew 6:3-4

I can go visit people in the nursing home or in the hospital who might not have someone to visit them

What can I give?

Blessed are those who have mercyWho give to the poor and fast and pray.The Holy Spirit will fill their hearts.The Son will show them mercy on Judgment Day
