Rhode Island Teen Book Award Election

You may have wished that you could have voted in this past election in November, but you can now let your voice be heard. The tweens and teens of Rhode Island are going to be voting on their favorite novel from a list of nominees. You can find a list of the books at http://www.yourlibrary.ws/ya_webpage/ritba/ritba11/ritba11.htm. All you have to do is vote, is read at least three of the books on the list. Stop into the library to vote before February 25!

Gaming Fun

Tuesdays are days to play with the library’s Wii and Xbox consoles, and that means those between the ages of 11 and 18 are invited to drop into the library from 2:00-6:00 pm to have some group fun. We have the systems set up for participants to play a selection of games that includes Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Kart, American Idol, and a number of other titles.

Anime Cinema

Are you into anime? Every Friday afternoon, you can come to the library and enjoy a free showing of some Japanese-themed cartoons at 2:30 pm. Following each showing, feel free to stay and discuss what you have watched. Over the course of the summer, the library will be showing episodes of Fruits Basket. Register quickly because space is limited!

Outburst

Screaming as loud as you can … at the library??? Yep, that is what we are asking you to do. Come and play this fun party game that is not unlike Family Feud on Monday, January 10 at 3:00 pm. Teens and Tweens welcome!

DIY Hot Cocoa Kits

Brrr! It’s cold outside. We could all use a quick and easy way to warm up when we get home. This fun ac-tivity will not only show you how to make little home-made kits to make your own hot chocolate, but you will get to do just that during the program. The fun starts at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, January 12. Those aged 11 and up can participate.

Pots of Candy Flowers

With winter in full bloom, we really need to add a little col-or and energy to the grayness. Flowers may not be ready to come out of hibernation, but those in middle school can come to the library to create their own in a program on Wednesday, January 19 at 3:00 pm. We will be using to make the flowers … and we won’t worry if you eat some of the materials.

Harry Potter Jeopardy!

Are you a master of all things Potter? Come and test your knowledge in this fun trivia game that was created to challenge your attention to detail. Those in middle or high school will provide the questions for all the answers we have provided. The challenge starts at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, January 20.

Program Helpers

The library is looking for a few good teens (and tweens) to help present a craft program for children on Monday, January 24 at 4:00 pm. The kids are out to make 3D foam animals, and they need your help to complete their zoo! If you like working with children, this is a great opportunity for you to fill those community service requirements

Apples to Apples

This fun twist on the match game will give you an op-portunity to be creative and share some laughter. Join the party in the library at 3:00 pm on Monday, January 31. All tweens and teens are welcome.
