WILMINGTON SENIOR CENTER MEMBERSHIP COUNCIL
BY-LAWS AMENDMENT
An amendment to Article XIII, Section 1 has been proposed. A revised amendment was formally read anpublished at the 10/14/15 meeting of the Members and will be published in the November 2015 andDecember 2015 newsletters. A final will vote will take place at the Members Meeting on 1/13/16.
Proposed Amendment to Article XIII, Section 1 of the By-Laws
ARTICLE XIII - MULTI-PURPOSE FUNDSection 1: Sunshine Fund
The Sunshine Fund is to be used for members who are sick and/or shut-in, and upon the death ofsomeone in the members family, i.e., spouse, child, mother, father, sister and/or brother, to provide abereavement donation to that member. The member must be in good standing.
Cards will be sent to the sick and shut-in members.
A monetary donation is to be given to the Wilmington Senior Center member in the amount of $15.00. Itwo (2) or more members in the same family share the same loss, each member is entitled to receive a
monetary donation of $15.00. Each member must be in good standing, i.e., a paid-up member accordinto the current records of the Wilmington Senior Center. The amount of the monetary donation is subjectchange at the discretion of the Membership Council by a majority vote.
If the deceased party was a member in good standing, and has no family currently active with theWilmington Senior Center, the donation, upon approval by the Membership Council may be donated totheir ancestral family or their religious family (church, synagogue or temple).
Note: this amendment was necessitated because the most recently adopted by-laws did not includeguidelines for honoring a member in good standing who did not have family currently active with thecenter. Results of a related survey were overwhelmingly in favor of making a donation to the membersancestral or religious family if and when this situation occurs.

CAREGIVERS CORNER
ADVANCE CARE PLANNING GIVE PEACE OF MIND FOR THE HOLIDAYS
"There are four kinds of people:those who will become caregivers, those who are caregivers,
those who were caregivers, and those who will need caregiving themselves."- Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter
What is advance care planning?Making plans now for the care you want when you have a serious illness is often called advance
care planning. Advance care planning helps you make your care decisions now and in the future.Planning involves learning about your illness and understanding your choices for treatments andcare.A plan relieves family members from wondering if they "did the right thing" on your behalf. A
plan also provides your health care team with information on your health care preferences and if
you would want life-sustaining measures if there appeared to be little likelihood of your recovery.
What is involved in the planning process?Talking with family and health care providers about your care decisions and formally documenting
them is very important. Family can mean people related to us and those we choose to call family
Legal documents discuss the type of care you want, where care happens, and who provides it soyour family knows your choices and understands who you want to speak for you if you are not able
to do so.
Care decisions can be about:- Choosing or refusing tests, procedures and medicines, and life-sustaining treatment
- Saying who can make care decisions for you when you cannot
Where and by whom is care provided?Care can occur in your:
- Home - Nursing home- Assisted living facility - Hospital
You can choose who provides care for you:
- Family who are willing and able to help - Home care agency- Palliative or comfort care team - Hospice
- Nursing home

Holiday Money Saving Tips
Are you worried about spending too much at the holidays? Here are some tips so you donbreak the bank.
Develop a budget and stick to it. Make a list of everyone you would like to give aholiday gift along with the maximum amount you are willing to spend on eachindividual. Do not go over the amount you set.
Shop early. Dont wait until the last minute. You may end up spending more. Get creative. Handmade gifts or personalized coupons can be a special treat. Some
examples are baked good, a personalized photo album or decorate a picture frame, knitted or crocheted items, or give a coupon for a homemade meal, babysitting time
and more. Draw names and create a spending cap. Try to limit the gift to $10 to $20. Enjoy free and inexpensive holiday activities. Check out the local community
