Hello All,

It was a busy week! We seemed to pick up momentum as the week progressed, however, it was lovely to finish the week with an Afternoon Tea! Early in the week we had the O’Donnell and Hanlon painting team in, and they did a wonderful job of repainting our games’ outlines on the cement. It has been a great relief for students to again have proper lines marked on the Handball Court!!! On Thursday I attended the 3MAPS Principals Meeting which was followed by a full 3MAPS Staff Meeting – where we were joined by Moorland PS! Friday was a happy and sad day in a number of ways!

Sad because we farewelled the Whitaker family. Sad also because Michelle had Maree, and many student helpers, cut off her lovely long curly hair!

Happy because we had a terrific turn up at our P&C AGM and elected our very capable Office Bearers for 2016. Happy also because we had a wonderful Celebration Assembly followed by a delicious Afternoon Tea. Happy as well because Michelle raised $200.00 plus for Kids with Cancer at the Afternoon Tea!....and for the Online World’s Greatest Shave over $900 for the Leukaemia Foundation. Congratulations Michelle, this very brave gesture helps so many others in very difficult circumstances. We are very proud of you! You are a legend!

ABOUT THE CEMENT!Mr. Daniel Eakin (O’Donnell and Hanlon) visited HVPS, and is going to get back to us with a quote to clean the remaining cement area. On Tuesday Ms. Sharon Stewart (Asset Management Unit) is coming to look at what maintenance needs to get underway for the next 12 months.

CANTEEN IS IN RECESS ACTION TODAY. THANK YOU! Magda and Michelle!

3MAPS MEETING THURSDAY, 10TH MARCH!The 3MAPS (Three Mountains Alliance of Public Schools) Meeting , and Staff Meeting happened on Thursday – but NOT here as reported in last week’s Newsletter. PSSA NSW TENNIS KNOCKOUTToday we travel to Tinonee to play Tennis. Our team members are Sam, Piper, Jasmine and Adam P.. The students are looking forward to their first interschool tennis competition for a long time! Good Luck students! We will learn from this – and I’m still waiting for confirmation from Kendall Tennis Club regarding a tennis coach to teach the students after school, one day a week!

MUSIC LESSONSMusic Lesson are powering on! We are truly fortunate to have Brad with us, and thank him for his enthusiastic efforts with our great musicians!

3MAPS CROSS COUNTRY ON HARMONY DAYA big day is planned for 18th March! Check out the information in this Newsletter!

CONNOR AND ELEN STAR AT WINGHAM SHOW.....Both Elen and Connor have joined the students at the Ag. Plot at CHHS! I have taken a small excerpt from the TAS teacher’s report....sent on by Carla McInnes.

“This was the first show for Year 7 students and a few new older members of the Cattle Team. Connor McInnes (Year 7) was acknowledged for his teamwork and herdsperson efforts on the day. He placed 1st in the under 15 Herdsperson competition, where they are assessed all day by independent judges. He then went on to be named Reserve Champion Herdsperson at the show. This award focuses on the kids effort, commitment to animals, team work and leadership all day, so it was a fantastic result.

There were many other results and successes on the day. I know I can speak for Mark, Jenni and Shillo when I say we are so impressed by the students dedication, hard work and commitment. They truly are a remarkable group of young people who always represent our school with pride....”

Emorfia Cutler, TAS Teacher, CHHS.

Thanks for your continued help, support and friendship everyone.

P&C NewsThank you, thank you, thank you for everyone’s support of my ‘shave’ last Friday. I raised $246.00 on the day and some additional donations from other community members. That means that I will be able to donate $270.00 to the Children’s Cancer Institute for Research and I will donate $50.00 to the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation in honour of Lyn Turner (Lexi and Declan Whitakers beloved grandmother).

In addition, my shave has raised over $1000.00 online for the Leukaemia Foundation so all up - a great result! I am still getting used to my new look!!
