Professor R. K. Kale, the Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Gujarat, Gandhinagar-382030 has initiated to start a Three-Month Certificate Course in Analytical Technique for
Visually Challenged (CCATVC) people from the academic year 2011-12.
This certificate course is aimed to enable visually challenged people for learning basics of
chemical sciences, instill confidence, reorientation and skill for analytical sciences in academics,
research and development for opening new employment opportunities for them in academia as
well as in industries. The learning will be assisted with Mansingh Visionmeter, indigenously
developed equipment at Central University of Gujarat. This innovative idea will provide an
immense self-confidence to the specifically challenged with moderately educated disabled
person to make them self-suffice. Such awareness towards science and technology will makevisually challenged people more competitive with the normal people in a material world. The
skill achieved through this course would create analytical mind that could be considered as an
example of asset to the analytical world in science disciplines for monitoring the quality
assurance and quality control of daily used products such as food, beverages, soap, surfactants
etc. Thus, in nutshell the newly devised course curriculum would give new life and direction to
visually challenged people. Details of the course are as follows:
Course Title: Three-Month Certificate Course in Analytical Technique for Visually Challenged
Highlights of course contents:
The programme has two components: a) Theoretical Courses and b) Laboratory practices. The theoretical part of the course will be dealt with the fundamentals of basic chemistry
and understanding required for handling the Visionmeter and performing the wet lab
experiments for industrial application. The laboratory experiments will be based on physicochemical properties of the daily used
products.
Date of Commencement: The course will be commenced from the 12th August, 2011
Educational Qualification: Preference will be given to the students of 12th
standard (HSC) in
science. If the students of 12th
standard (HSC) in science are not available then the students of
10th standard will be considered.
Course Fee: Rs. 1650/-
