Hosea 14:4 ESVI'm not studied in the original languages, but myhandy-dandy computer lexicon indicates that theword "turned" is literally "to return" or to "to turnback." Other bible translations render it "turnedaway" . . . almost like the anger is deflected. Butwhat if the anger really was "returned" or "turnedback?" What if the wrath was redirected back toGod Himself? What if God has provided the wayback, through repentance, by turning back thepenalty of sin on Himself?

And it hits me afresh. That's exactly what He didin sending His Son to bear the penalty for my sin.Within the mystery of our Triune God, God theFather poured out the wages of sin for all menupon God the Son. Thus, having turned back onHimself the wrath for all who, by faith, return andrepent. ~ Pete’s Journal, November 27, 2014
