We were introduced to several components of Family Matters:
a. Covenant
b. The Church as a Family
c. The Natural Family
i. Husband and Wives
ii.Children
d. Our Family Inheritance
rewind TAKING THE OFFENSIVE
1. God began to express that we are no longer
a. Victims but we were Victors;
b. no longer Wonderers but Warriors!
And now that we are at the threshold of our promises we must prepare to fight and take back the Kingdom that has been taken from us

1. During this series we began to embark upon “what” being the source to “why”.
2. We began to look at:
a. What is in our hearts
b. What is in our mouths
c. What is in our hands

Here we are taught the importance of praying consistently and fervently

A.Defining Moments
1.Relationship w/ God and self
a.Our relationship with God effects how we make decisions
B. Family Matters
1.Relationship w/ God, the Church (Our spiritual family), and natural families
a.Our relationship with God is contingent upon how we treat our families rather spiritual or natural

1.Relationship w/ God and His Kingdom
a.Our relationship with God will determine our efforts in advancing the Kingdoms Agenda

1. Evaluating the Relationship
a. If we struggle with the first 3 then we should take a close look at the source of our troubles….the heart. Because the heart determines what we say and what we do!
rewind E. Fervent Prayer
• Repairing & Maintaining the Relationship
• a. Once we have discovered the problem…prayer will help us to repair and maintain our relationships with God and man. And if we don’t have a problem it helps us to maintain and keep a healthy relationship with God and Man!

1.The Purpose of Creation was to….establish a relationship
• We know that “God walked in the garden in the cool of the day” implying a relational encounter with man (Gen. 3:8).

1.The Purpose of Covenant was to…explain the terms of relationship
In Scripture “Covenant” implies Relationship.
….because God’s Kingdom is a “covenantal” Kingdom.
Define Covenant o In Biblical terms, the covenant is the primary agent that
God uses to reveal the nature of His love and His desire of relationship with His creation. Through this guise God reveals Himself to be the covenant God. In essence:

1.The Purpose of Jesus’ Death was to…expiate (atone) for the relationship
• In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins. (1 Jn 4:10) RSV

• And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent(Jn 17:3).
rewind • Know (ginosko)-not simply intellectual (book)
knowledge, but rather a personal relationship. An intimate involvement or a special familiarity. Meaning we should have a personal experience with God

• I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings. (Ho 6:6) NLT
