WELCOME

PAUL EVANSCEO, WasteMINZ

Tena koutou and welcome to the 29th annual WasteMINZ Conference -

Purpose, Progress and Potential.

I am sure we all agree that clear air, clean water, and good quality land are all

things that New Zealanders want for themselves and their children. They are

also priorities for our tourism industry and exporters, who use our clean, green

image to gain competitive advantage.

Waste crosses all the domains, and without addressing it, New Zealand will

struggle to improve the management of our environment. By tackling waste,

we can make a real and substantive difference to our country’s environmental

performance and its economy too.

However, waste is not always seen as a priority for central government. With the

recent change in government, we have an opportunity to reset the priorities, but

this will require coordinated, collective action by our sector.

Together we can play a strong and influential leadership role for New Zealand.

We must continue to be the pre-eminent voice for our sector, a voice that is

listened to, a voice that matters.

CONFERENCE APP

WIFI

This year we have, once again, developed

a conference app. It’s our goal to minimise

waste and so we have moved away from

printed programmes.

The app includes absolutely everything you

need to know, including:

• sponsor and exhibitor listings

• programme information

• speaker profiles

• wifi details

• maps and much more

DOWNLOADING THE APP

There are Apple and Android versions of the

app as well as a mobile web version for other

phones.

1 Go to the App or Google Play stores and

search for wasteminz

2 Download the app

3 If it asks if you’d like to allow push

notifications select yes. This way we can

send you helpful updates on important

items.

GET EXPLORING

The app has been designed to be super easy

to use. There’s an icon for all the key items,

but if you can’t find something just click on

the search icon and search away.

1 Go into your WiFi settings on your

mobile device and connect to
