1.What does AIESEC in AAU mean to you?

• For me AIESEC is beacon of opportunities. Its an organization where I can make a difference and develop my self. I used to think I was a patient man and I could handle any straggle that comes in my way, but with this few months I spent in this organization my patient has been tested, It made me question my decisions and forced me to understand something's from a different perspective.

3.Which position are you applying for and why?

• Am applying for the LCVP BD/IGIP position. 4.How would you utilize EXPA in your portfolio to achieve maximum results?

• For doing research on the EXPA library to learn from the experience of other entities

• For matching possible IGIP applicants

Page 8: Halefom LCVP Application

5.Why do you think you are the best person for this position?

• Because I am the kind of person who gives it 100 % for something I believe in, and I believe in what AIESEC stands for, like the exchange program and the projects. And as a sales a person one must be confident enough in the product or service they are selling, otherwise it would be pointless trying to convince a person who already has doubts.

6.What does AIESEC give to Ethiopia and what should it give to Ethiopia?

• It gives the young minds of Ethiopia the opportunity to develop them selves through the TM and TL programs in there portfolios and a challenging experience through different projects, not only it is a way to develop personally it also gives them the platform for professional development.

• This projects members work on impact the different parts of the society like university students, juvenile kids, and under privileged children.

• Some of the projects help achieve students the entrepreneurial skill the country so desperately needs.

• Although the projects we have are good we need to start on delivering standardized and quality work.

Page 10: Halefom LCVP Application

7.State 3 of your greatest accomplishment in AIESEC and 3 outside of AIESEC. • Outside of AIESEC – I usually get the grades I aimed to achieve.

- GIZ entrepreneurial conference – it’s a conference that gave trainings on entrepreneurship and there was a competition which I didn’t win but gave me a lot to learn from my mistakes and I was to open my own business later on.

- starting my own company

• In AIESEC – sales experience

- learned how other business people think

- was best delegate at fired up conference

Page 11: Halefom LCVP Application

8.Describe your leadership style.

• I am a person who believes in leading by an example, first members should take the necessary trainings and be aware of what’s going on in there LC and in time even the other LC’s then I they should experiment from there on, and I will be giving them guide and help when ever they need it. I also strongly believe that guidance is not a one way street, I am the kind of person who is open to any ideas.

Page 12: Halefom LCVP Application

9.Describe how your AIESEC journey impacted you as an individual.

• Ever since I could remember I wanted to make a difference in people’s life, but when I was a kid the way I imagined it doing was unrealistic even imaginary, then when I grew up and went to collage I got matured and started thinking logically even became calculative, but I still think the way to make a difference was by owning something substantial like finical wise, but after I joined AIESEC it got me to understand I don’t actually have to be financially sound to make an impact. It also helped me develop the skills I thought I already had.

Page 13: Halefom LCVP Application

10.What is your vision for the LC for the term15/16? What legacy do you want to leave behind as a black lion? • I want my LC to be recognized for the hard work we do by the community,

government bodies and the university.

• A close relationship with the Ministry of Education.

• Working on a multiple of projects.

• More exchange than we ever did.

• To be able to sign more partners than we ever did.

• I want my LC to be the one where interns get the best of experience and say that’s something I will never forget

Page 14: Halefom LCVP Application

11.What is your vision as a person and how does the LCVP experience contribute to or align with it?

• Currently I am a civil engineering student but I have never seen my self immersing full time in that field, even before I joined AIESEC, and so I have this plans to work on different business ideas, some around my area of expertise (construction wise) and some not, so this position would help me grasp the skills I need on how to manage such responsibility.

Page 15: Halefom LCVP Application

12.Highlight your time commitment throughout the next year (academic and other wise). • I understand being an EB is a lot difficult and consumes a lot of time. Obviously

13.How do see AIESEC in AAU and AIESEC in Ethiopia after 5 years?

• If we learn from our previous mistakes and keep on developing the way we do AIESEC in Ethiopia will be a lot of GCDP exchanges and IGIP/OGIP exchanges. There would be a lot of projects sponsored by different partners. And will have made a lot of leaders.

Page 17: Halefom LCVP Application

• detailed research of companies before approach

• focusing on particular problems companies are having

• close relationship with governmental institutes with different projects

• there would be a model ppt. but every member is responsible for creating ppt. for his/her meetings.

• Creating an interaction between our GCDP projects to out going exchange

• stop

• approaching companies with just the knowledge of what sector they are in

• going to a sales meeting just for the sake of it

• focusing on saleing the product than AIESEC

• stop follow ups with the sight of rejection

3.What type of partnership would you like to expand on for the next term? Why? And how will this partnership ensure the financial sustainability of the LC?

• In the first two quarter terms I am going to focus on project partnerships, because currently we have good projects and there are a lot of companies willing to invest on such projects. and if we give it our focus and do it right we will sustain at least our accommodation expenses. Plus this kind of partnership will help us on the next quarters when we re-raise them for exchange partnership. Since we would have their trust and confidence that we have the capability to get the job done it would be easier to convince the relevance of exchange. It also would be possible to turn exchange in to a project and sell it to institutes like private colleges and universities, NGO’s.

Page 24: Halefom LCVP Application

4.How do you evaluate the current situation of the LC in the non-corporate sector?

• We have not exploited this non-corporate sector. Considering this sectors have a specific funds to do projects like the ones we currently do we have to target this organizations and present them with a project they can go with.

Page 25: Halefom LCVP Application

5.What are the challenges that you see in selling project partnerships and how do you plan on overcoming them? Come up with an action plan for the next term.

• problem of finding the right company – mostly we do online research on a company and decide from that.

• The way we sale the project (our proposals) – our proposals focus more on describing AIESEC rather than the projects and the project descriptions are vague.

• Action plan – 1) online research – screening – PR research – decision on the appropriate project to sale – go to sales meeting.

2) our proposals should be able describe the exact type of event/project and the exact numbers, clear expectations from the company and us.

Page 26: Halefom LCVP Application

6.What strategies would you use to Re – raise existing partners?

Start of with a service we can

deliver to create the trust

deliver a quality service

get feedback on their

experience

follow up and see what other

project they would be

interested in.

Page 27: Halefom LCVP Application

7.What is your strategy to approach the governmental institutions to help our LC in its activities?

• Align our projects to meet their priorities, meaning creating projects that focuses on their current issues. For example Ministry of Education is currently working on ‘Avoiding English and Math Anxiety’, so we create a project based on this issue that would involve exchange.

Page 28: Halefom LCVP Application

8.As a back office portfolio, how does it contribute to exchange?

• Bringing in exchange partners - OGCDP

• Bringing in partners for projects that interns would work on - IGCDP

Page 29: Halefom LCVP Application

9.Present a proposal for an AIESEC event that is to be implemented for the first time in AIESEC in Ethiopia. How would it contribute to exchange?

Page 30: Halefom LCVP Application

10.How would you sell AIESEC to a 10 year old?

• I would tell him that it is like Mint coated chocolate with a color full wrapping.
