Quality Improvement

Seminar # 1

Page 2: HA 425 Operational Analysis and Quality Improvement Seminar # 1

My name is Kristin Horton and I am an adjunct professor for the School of Health Sciences. I have taught with Kaplan (on and off) since February 2004 and enjoy every minute of it!

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of New Mexico and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. I am looking into completing a Doctorate degree in the near future in Leadership.

I have spent over ten years in education and thoroughly enjoy it! I have had roles in Enrollment, Academic Advising, in addition to my teaching experience in the traditional classroom and in the online environment. I have work experience in recruiting, training and development, organizational behavior, and academics. I have worked in the HR field, the tech industry, and in the world of Academia (my favorite). I also am a member of SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) and the Academy of Management.

On a personal note, I have been married for sixteen years and have a ten year old daughter and a six year old son. My husband retired last year after serving 20 years in the Air Force. We currently live in Ohio where we enjoy the outdoors and like to camp, fish, and four wheel with the family in our Jeep.

I cannot say enough good things about Kaplan University! It is wonderful opportunity to be a part of something so great!! You will find many dedicated professionals that are here to ensure students like yourself are given the best opportunity to succeed. I am one of them and proud of it!

Welcome to Kaplan University!!

Netiquette• Wait to respond to a message that upsets you and be careful of what you

say and how you say it.

• Be considerate. Rude or threatening language, inflammatory assertions (often referred to as "flaming"), personal attacks, and other inappropriate communication will not be tolerated.

• Never post a message that is in all capital letters -- it comes across to the reader as SHOUTING! Use boldface and italics sparingly, as they can denote sarcasm.

• Keep messages short and to the point.

• Always practice good grammar, punctuation, and composition. This shows that you’ve taken the time to craft your response and that you respect your classmates' work.

• Keep in mind that threaded discussions are meant to be constructive exchanges.

• Be respectful and treat everyone as you would want to be treated yourself.

• Use spell check!
