Parinita Priyadarshini of SS1 qualified the Junior Science Talent Search

Examination ( JSTS) 2017-18 organized by the Directorate of Education,

Government of N.C.T. of Delhi and secured the 19th rank out of 19331. She

received a cash award of Rs.1000 and a certificate.

125th rank at the All India level Intellectual Property Talent Search Examination,

Hardik Chhabra of Class SS2 has developed a model of a Suspension Bridge titled “DEHEC”

Durable Elastic Heavy Elephantine carrier suspension bridge which can hold up to 100 Kgs

weight while its own weight is approximately only 1Kg . This design has been filed for Patent

under Intellectual Property Right of India.

Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi had organized a one day Inter-school Poster Making Competition on Consumer Awareness on November 20, 2018 in collaboration with School of Excellence,

Kalkaji, New Delhi.The posters prepared by both Shubham Samantaray M2 and Shreya Samantaray S2C were highly

appreciated and were selected for the New Year Consumer Awareness Wall Calendar 2019 by the Centre for Consumer Studies, IIPA, New Delhi.

The students got a wonderful opportunity to browse through the

interesting collection.

The objective of Book fair was to motivate and encourage children to read by

exposing them to a wonderful world of books from different genres for them

to choose from.

OBSERVING SPECIAL DAYS

Diwali Celebration and Anti Cracker Drive by Delhi Police

The primary students celebrated Diwali with full enthusiasm.

A Rangoli Competition was organized. Senior students performed a Nukkad Natak

to promote the Anti Cracker drive in school premises as well as at PVR Saket.

This was followed after a few days by a talk by Mr. Keshav Mathur, SHO Saket

Police Station on the Anti Cracker Drive to spread awareness regarding the ban on

the use of crackers

The entire school observed Gandhi Jayanti in its true spirit, by

organizing a special assembly and carrying out a cleanliness

drive.

Their whole-hearted participation was deeply appreciated by

not just the school but also by the outsiders who saw the young

hands at work.

Birth Anniversary of Sardar Patel 31st October 2018

A special assembly was organised to commemorate the Birth Anniversary

of Sardar Patel on 31st October which is observed as National Unity Day.

The students were addressed by the school principal and an elocution

competition was organised based on quotes by Sardar Patel. The

students also took the National unity oath.

FUN DAY 2018

Fun days are an important part of student’s life! Allowing students to enjoy a day of fun activities

makes school more enjoyable.

Keeping this in mind, ’Fun Day’ was organized for the students of Gyan Bharati School on

2nd November, 2018.

The day was packed with a myriad of fun activities and games organized by teachers and students

and mouth-watering food stalls.

CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION

As a tribute to ‘Chacha Nehru’ and his love for children, Children’s Day was celebrated with great

enthusiasm through a special assembly organized by the teachers for the students.

The students took a pledge to be good human beings and give their best to the nation.

ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATIONS

The school celebrated it’s 38th Annual Function on 25th November 2018 amidst great vibrancy and elation.

Mr. Syed Shahid Mahdi, Ex Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi was the honourable

Chief Guest on the occasion.

The highlight of the show was the fact that each and every child of the school participated in the function.

FOOD MELA 2018

A Food Mela was organized for the students of classes P1, P2 and P3 on 18th,19th and 20th

December 2018.

The objectives of this event included inculcating basic eating etiquettes, creating awareness on

healthy eating, encouraging the habit of sharing and motivating students to sit together and eat in

harmony.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

A special assembly was organized by the primary students to

celebrate the spirit of Christmas. Christmas Carols and dance

followed by the play ‘The Fir Tree’ filled each and every heart with

happiness.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

The school celebrated the Republic Day through patriotic songs sung by the school choir

and sharing information about the importance of this day and how the Constitution was

drafted. The assembly included a vibrant dance performance showcasing dance forms of

various states of India conveying the message ‘Unity In Diversity’.

Annual Sports Day and Day Camp (Primary Section)

’Khel Khel Mein,Khushi Khushi Se’ the annual sports event held to sensitize

students towards the importance of physical fitness was held in the month of

February for classes P1 to P5. It included various races followed by adventurous

activities such as Zorbing Roller,River Crossing,Commando Crawl,Commando

Net,Hopscotch,Rope Climbing, Flying Fox etc.

HAVAN AND INTERACTION WITH PROF. MARMAR MUKHOPADHYAY

Havan Ceremony (Saraswati Puja) was organised on the 1st February, 2019 to seek the blessings of

the almighty for the students appearing for class X and XII Board examinations. It was followed by an

address by Professor Marmar Mukhopadhyay (Director of Educational Technology and Management

Academy, New Delhi) for the students of class XII. During the course of his address, he spoke on the

need to bring about creativity and innovation in learning designs and educational management with

the sole purpose of improving quality in education.

STORY TELLING SESSIONS

Interactive story telling sessions are regularly held for the students of Primary Department

which are thoroughly enjoyed by the students. Stories are used as a medium to ingrain

values, improve reading skills and open the minds of children to worlds beyond

imagination.

The students of classes P3, P4 and P5 narrated stories to the tiny tots of nursery, P1 and

P2 using story books, puppets and pictures.

The event saw the school students, teachers and parents practicing the different ’Yog-Asanas’ in

unison under the guidance of the school Yoga Instructor Shri V.N Joshi, who is a certified yoga

trainer. He explained how Yoga, a spiritual discipline, is based on an extremely subtle science which

focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body.

BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MOTHER TERESA

(28th August 2019)

Students came dressed in costumes and enacted an inspiring play showcasing

the contribution and the service that she rendered to the society

A poem written by Mother Teresa, a melodious solo song and group dance was

presented by the children.

An informative talk on Kargil Vijay Diwas was followed by an inter house poetry

recitation competition on the theme “Patriotism”. The assembly reinforced

respect and honour for the slain sons of our beloved motherland.

To spread awareness about the importance of clean and safe environment and

sanitation in the fight against dengue

The cultural programme featured two patriotic songs; one titled “Aage Badhne Ka Iraada”

and the other, titled “Shubh Sukh Chaain Ki Barkha Barse” presented by the Primary and

the Senior students respectively.

The highlight of the day’s programme was the play ‘Hum Hain Magan’ based on the life of

Mahatma Gandhi, the great soul who paved the way for India’s freedom

46th NPSC Annual Conference

The 46th NPSC Annual Conference was held on 12th

and 13th February 2019 at India International Centre.

It was attended by Ms. Nishi Manglik, Mr. Sanjay

Bhardwaj, Ms. Mini Sethi and Ms. Anupama Chand.

The theme centered on “Reading Between Lines:

Defining the Progressive” wherein numerous

engaging sessions were conducted by eminent

speakers.

CBSE – Capacity Building Programme in Social Science

Ms. Sonia M. Khanna and Ms. Roma Doraiswami attended the two day ‘Capacity Building Workshop in Social Science

organised by CBSE at Green Fields School, Safdarjung Enclave.

The workshop conducted by Ms. Neena Kohli, an educationist aimed at making learning joyful and creative.

Special emphasis was given on variety of assessment tools, methodology and designing of the question paper.

Librarian Meet Delhi – NCR 2018

Penguin Random House India organized a Librarian Meet on November 28, 2018 at India International Centre which was

attended by Dr.(Mrs.) Sangeeta Kamal.

The event included talks by Ms. Madhu Bhargava, Head Librarian, Woodstock School, Mussoorie, Dr. Tanushree Singh,

author and Founder of online community Reading Raccoons and Hon’ble Minister for Women and Child Development

Mrs. Maneka Gandhi.

The entire session was very interesting and interactive in which the Librarians shared their ideas about transforming

the readers and connecting learners to content.

WORKSHOP SCRAP OUT SCRAP

TERI, School of Advanced Studies, Vasant Kunj organized a workshop SOS – Scrap out

Scrap an action on waste management. The workshop was attended by Mrs. Arvinder Kaur

and a team of 10 students of M3 from our school. The vision of the programme supported by

Coca Cola India Pvt. Ltd. is to empower the youth to practice a sustainable lifestyle while

promoting and enabling action on solid waste management and thereby, reducing the

ecological impact of solid waste.

TIMES NIE: PRINCIPAL’S SEMINAR

The Times NIE Principal’s Seminar was conducted on 30th January 2019 at Hotel Sheraton, District Centre,

Saket. It was attended by NIE Incharge Ms. Sawinder Kaur.

The theme of the seminar was ’Modernization in Education’.

A workshop was organized for the P1 teachers with

Mrs. Amita Govinda.

It was an interactive session wherein the teachers shared theme

based activities which are regularly done with the students.

Govinda Ma’am further guided the teachers to make learning a

joyful and meaningful experience for students.

WORKSHOP ON JAPANESE STYLE GROUP LEARNING PROGRAM

An interactive session was conducted for P1 to P5 teachers by the ‘Japanese

Style Group’ who showed various materials that can be used to give students

(CATS)

Mrs. Rukmini Kotia SDM office organized a training on First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

by Mr. Aijaz Ahmad of CATS on 21st February 2019 for the staff and students of the school.

The interactive workshop included demonstration and explanation of techniques of basic first aid as

well as CPR and how to handle emergency situations as well as the use of helpline no 1099

Youth Science Camp organised by INYAS at NIPGR

on 15th November 2018

Akshat Mohan, Anish Bera, Naisha Gupta, Navya Munjal, Aanya Sharma of

Class S2 and Ms. Anjali Chhibber participated in the Youth Science Camp

at National Institute of Plant Genome Research on 15th November 2018.

The Camp included impactful interactive sessions with eminent Indian

Scientists followed by hands on experience in a variety of laboratory

techniques across diverse scientific disciplines.

Z-LIFE SESSION ON INVISIBLE ASTRONOMY

On 16th January 2019 a session on Invisible astronomy was conducted for the young members of

astronomy club.

The sessions started with an introduction of concepts like wavelength, frequency, radiation and

energy using which the nature of light was established amongst the students.

This was followed by the students constructing their own spectroscopes and testing the working

of their self constructed spectroscope to obtain beautiful spectrum of sun rays.

INTACH Dastangoi and Calligraphy Workshops

Heritage of our city needs care and support of the young minds. They should be made aware

of our intangible heritage and various forms of art and craft in order to develop sensitivity in

them. Heritage Club of our school has always been an active member of the INTACH. Devika

(IX) and Pari (VII) attended the Dastangoi workshop on the 15th November 2018. While

Nabeeha (IX), Nishant (IX) and Diana (VII) attended the calligraphy workshop on 29th

November 2018. Both these workshops organized by INTACH contributed in helping the

children to be more aware of their cultural heritage and connect to it.

Career Awareness Workshop for S2

A workshop on career awareness was conducted by

Ms. Tania Gooptu from Aventus Partners for the students of class S2

on 14th December 2018 followed by a similar session for their parents

on 15th December 2018

WORKSHOP: “ADOLESCENCE AND THE CHANGES THAT FOLLOW”

An introductory session was organised for all the students of P5 in the yoga room on 17th January 2019 by

Ms. Grisha Kharbanda (Primary school counsellor) on the topic of "Adolescence and the changes that

follow". A wide range of common changes (physical, social, emotional) that Adolescence brings about were

discussed in detail. Also, a separate session regarding the specific changes that take place in this phase

was arranged for boys on 24th January and for girls on 7th February 2019.

COPING WITH ADHD –WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS

Small group session for Primary School Parents on Coping with ADHD was conducted by the School Mental Health Team

on 3rd November, 2018.

FIRE SAFETY MOCK DRILL

A mock drill for Fire and life safety was carried out in the school on 17th January, 2019 to prepare

students and teachers to the ways of survival during unforeseen situations under the Disaster

Management Programme.

It also helped in building up courage and confidence and teach life saving and rescue techniques to

the students.

Health Checkup Camp

“A Healthy Mind Resides In A Healthy Body”

Keeping this in mind, a health check up camp was organized by the

school for all the students.

A team of doctors from Chikitsa Hospital conducted the camp which

included general physical examination, blood pressure, dental and

eye check up.

Necessary medical advice and precautionary measures were given to

the students and a descriptive report for individual student was

provided to help the parents understand the health of their wards and

take necessary steps for their good health.

INSPECTION BY DCPCR

The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) had sought detailed school wise information on

various parameters called School Development Index on the directions of the Delhi Government.

We are pleased to inform that the team of assessors consisting of

Mr. Krishkant, Ms. Rakhi Kumari and Mr. Adhesh Kumar inspected the school premises on 31st January and 1st

February 2019 and found the school adequate in all respects.

Mishra, the expert from Temple4learning threw light on how students can prepare well for

their board exams and also how they could ace the various entrance exams. Options like

Management, Law, Hospitality and Mass Communication were discussed in detail.

class 11th and 12th on how to make their studies less stressful.

INTERACTION WITH AUTHOR MR. SRIJAN PAL SINGH(9th August 2109)

Mr. Singh spoke at length about the possibility of life on other planets and moons and also engaged and

challenged the brains of the budding learners about the survival kit that they would need in space. The

wide eyed learners marvelled at the stark difference between the concept of space they had in mind with

the absolute lethal one that he painted and at the same time ignited the spark in them to go out and

explore.

Parenting Sessions organized regularly for the parents strengthens the Home-School

Partnership giving an opportunity to parents as well as to the teachers to come together and

work towards proactive solutions to behavioral concerns, adolescent issues, personality

development and career planning and other relevant issues.

A team of 15 students visited Amrita Vidyalayam on 7th December,

2018 to witness the exhibition “BHAVISHYA – BHARATAM VISION

An added attraction was a state of the art Science and Technology

stall put up by Embassy of Israel.

It was an initiative taken by the school to make the children aware of a plethora

Vasant Valley School, featuring a talk by renowned ophthalmologist and medical professional Dr. DIGVIJAY

SINGH on Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, Cancer and Biomedical Waste Management.

Visit to AIIMS(11th and 12th April 2019)

The biology students of class SS1 and SS2 participated in CATALYST- The Medical and Quiz Expo 2019

held at All India Institute of Medical Sciences . The students enjoyed the hands on experience of

studying the cadaveric anatomical and pathological specimens of various internal organs like Brain,

Heart, Liver and physiological processes like ECG and Blood pressure measurement, Spirometry , spinal

fluid analysis and blood grouping. They also enjoyed observing the microscopic specimens of various

organs, muscles and bacteria. The students interacted with last year’s AIIMS toppers Ramneek Kaur

Mahal and Amulya Gupta and were awarded certificates for participation in the programme.

Visit to National Science Centre(P4 &P5)(4th May 2019)

An educational trip to the National Science Centre,was organized for the students of classes P4 and P5 .

The visit was designed to arouse curiosity in the minds of children. Students were demonstrated with a

simple activity on how science is related to our day to day activities. Students took a tour of different

galleries, full of interesting and hands-on exhibits, like Water- the elixir of life, our science and technology

heritage, Human biology, Pre-historic life, Fun science,etc.

Excursion to Nehru Planetarium (P3)

As a part of the teaching learning process, an excursion was organized by the

school to the Nehru Planetarium for the students of P3 .

MOVIE SCREENING FOR CLASS P1 TO P5

The movie „The Lion King‟ was about the „circle of life‟ that moves us all. The movie allowed

the children to experience a variety of emotions like happiness, anger, sadness etc.The children

learnt about issues related to family, friendship, loss, responsibilities and community.

EXCURSION (For P4)

An educational trip to the Archaeological Survey of India, Childrens’ Museum and Lotus Temple was

organized by the school for the students of class P4 . The idea of the excursion was to create awareness

about the various structures and monuments. Students also watched a short movie ‘The Pink Rabbit’ in the

auditorium.

Students of the School Heritage Club visited Lal Gumbad, a

Medieval Era Monument in Malviya Nagar which is adopted by our

SURYA CHHABRA of M3 secured three Gold medals in the

Indian Round event held at Presidium School, Dwarka from 5th

October to 7th October 2018 and also participated in the CBSE

National Archery Championship 2018-2019 held at Raipur

Chattisgarh.

AAKASH SAII ARORA of P4 participated in the CBSE National

Skating Championship (2018-19) held at Krishna Public School ,

Raipur from the 26th November to 30th November 2018 in the under

10 Category and secured 2 Bronze Medals in the 300m and 500m

QUADS respectively.

AAKARSH SINGHAL of class M2 A participated from Delhi in the 64th National

School Korf Ball Championship 2018-19 held at Surguja, Chhattisgarh on 29th

January, 2019 in the under 14 boys category and bagged the 1st position,

securing a Gold medal.

AVI RANA of class SS1 D represented Delhi at the 64th National School Korf

Ball Championship 2018-19 held at Surguja, Chhattisgarh on 29th January,

2019 in the under 19 girls category and bagged the 2nd position, securing a

silver medal.

KRISH SINGHANI of S1 and KESHAV SINGH of SS1 represented Delhi in the 64th

National School Games Cricket Championship, 2018-19, in the Under-17 age

group category. While Keshav scored 63 runs in 38 balls Krish has been one of

the topmost scorers in the trial league matches camp.

Complex, New Delhi from 29th June to 30th June 2019 and secured the 2nd position in Air Pistol Event. He alsoparticipated

in the 2nd Inter Club Shooting Championship 2019 held at Champion Shooting Academy on 27th&28th April 2019.

Aryan Jetly also participated in DDA SCHOOL CHILDREN SHOOTING TOURNAMENT-2019 held at Siri Fort

Sports Complex, New Delhi from 3rd to 4th July 2019. He also received the 1st position in the First Smt.

Pushpa Rani Gupta Memorial Open 20-20 Shooting Championship held between 15-17th June 2019. He was

awarded a gold medal and a trophy.

Shourya Sejwal of P4 participated in Delhi State open meet swimming

championship 2019 and won 2 Gold and 2 Silver Medals.

Dhruv Sejwal of M1C participated in Delhi State open meet swimming

championship 2019 and won 4 Gold and 2 Silver Medals. He was also awarded

with overall Championship Trophy. He also represented Delhi in the Junior

National Championship held in Rajkot, Gujarat and secured All India Rank 4.

Rehaan Sejwal of M1C has won a total of six prizes in the 55th Delhi State Open Junior,Sub-Junior Tiny-Tots

Aquatic Championship 2019in Group-3 Category (Boys) heldbetween 6-10 th August, 2019 at Dr. Shyama

Prasad Mukherjee Swimming Pool Complex, New Delhi.

Darsh Ilwadi of P3 participated in 33rd National under 9 Open Chess championship

2019 held on 3rd to 11th August 2019 organised by Gujarat Chess Association.

Akshita Jetley was placed the 1st Runner Up in the Match 1 of Greens to Glory

‘Junior Golf League of Glory-2019’ held at Classic Golf and Country Club in the

Age category C( 11-12 Year) Girls on 23rd April, 2019. She was awarded a

Certificate of Merit.

2019 she secured second position overall in under 17 years age group.

Yash Upreti of SS1D has secured the 3 rd position in the 23 rd Delhi State Inter School

Shooting Championship in the 10M AIR RIFLE JUNIOR MEN category held at Karni Singh

Shooting Range on 23 rd August 2019. He has also secured the 2 nd and 3 rd positions in the

10M AIR RIFLE SENIOR AND JUNIOR MEN categories respectively in the 35 th Delhi State

Shooting Championship held at Karni Singh Shooting Range on 24 th August 2019.

Kanishk Sharma of SS2 D represented the Delhi State in the under 19 category in

Football. He participated in the 3rd National Level Inter-District Championship

2019 held at Gurdaspur District, Punjab from 1st June to 3rd June, 2019 under the

District Olympic Association of India.

Donation of Winter Woollens by

students for Ezee Hugs campaign

with Godrej Ezee during winters.

The students of Taruvaran (Gardening and Herbal Garden Club) and the

Interact Club of the school organised the sale of compost prepared by the

students of Taruvaran in the school campus and Eco-friendly Denim bags at

nominal charges, as a part of their SEWA project on 25th and 26th March 2019,

the proceeds of which will be donated towards charity.

Students of Interact Club collected a sum of Rs.11500/- for charity, by selling homemade Cup Cakes, Cakes and Candy Floss on their stall put up during Funday on 2nd November

2018.

Prosocial Moderator Programme

A Prosocial Moderator Program is conducted in the school under the

supervision of counsellors where few students are specifically trained by

experts in the field. These students are then responsible to conduct similar

sessions in school for other students on various topics such as emotions,

anger management, study skills etc.

Peer Mentoring for CWSN

Students of class 9 to 12 help the younger children in their academic and overall growth

under the guidance of the special educator not only do the mentees benefit even the

mentors develop feelings of empathy and imbibe compassion and leadership qualities in

them.

put up on the notice board.

Students also collected newspaper articles to make collage on water conservation, pollution

and water crisis.

A group of students from class VIII were taken around to see the Rain Water

harvesting system present in our school. The working and the method of water

collection was explained by Mr. Ahuja.

TREE PLANTATION DRIVE

(9th August,2019)

To make children realize the importance of trees in our lives and make our

environment green and nurturing for the innumerable lives depending on it. The

children of pre-primary, primary, middle and senior department enthusiastically

planted saplings of flowering and fruit trees around the campus.

The student SOS team of our school started segregating the waste at class room level using two

bins in each classroom one for Biodegradable waste and the other for non-biodegradable waste. The

bins are inspected everyday.

They are also discouraging the single use plastic by creating awareness for reducing use of plastic

lunch boxes and bottles etc.

Also are students are adding to this green initiative by Making News Paper Bags and encouraging

Cloth Bags.

Raahat Calling: Donation To Goonj(3rd September,2019)

The Collection Drive for flood relief was conducted in August, 2019 wherein students from class P1 to SS2

contributed the material as per the allotment. All the collected material was organized and labelled in cartons

by students of Interact Club and donated to “GOONJ”

School donated: Grocery 680 Kgs,1710 Packets of Biscuits, 1090 items of clothing towels and bed sheets,

1062 toiletries, candles and other items. A contribution of Rs. 2,50,000 has been made by the school staff.

Saying No To

Single Use Plastic(29th July 2019)

Children of P4 presented a talk show and self-composed poems where they emphasised

upon why we should not use single use plastic and things we can replace it with. The

assembly concluded with a pledge “REFUSE IT, IF WE CANNOT REUSE IT” which was taken

up by all the students and teachers.

Students and a sports teacher participated in The Sports and Sustainability

workshop organized by TERI University on 3rd July 2019.

Srishti of M2 won the commendation prize in the newspaper bag making

competition organized by the Indian Cancer Society. She received a cash

award of Rs. 400 and a certificate.
