■ Donate to the Cache Community Food Pantry.

■ Volunteer at school.

■ Be grateful.

■ Tell someone thanks.

■ Write a note to someone who has touched your life.

■ Visit an elderly person, more than once.

■ Smile at a store clerk.

■ Enjoy Christmas lights.

■ Read your favorite holiday story.

■ Watch Scrooge and It’s a Wonderful Life, with someone.

■ Spend time with those you love.

■ Play a game with your kids. Then play another one.

dence City Code Title 4 Public Health and Safety,

Chapter 1 Nuisances.

� The Council adopted and ordinance correcting Ordi-

nance No. 008-2008 amending Providence City Code

Title 3 Business License Regulations, by adding

Chapter 9 Sale and Emission of Fireworks.

� The Council adopted and ordinance amending Provi-

dence City Code Title 5 Animal Regulations and Con-

trol.

� The Planning Commission passed onto City Council with the recommendation to approve a request from Jared Nielson for Final

Plat approval for the Hillcrest subdivision located at approximately 850 South 400 East.

� A Public Hearing was held to receive public comment on a Final Plat request from David Smith for Smith Butler condominiums (a

two unit commercial building) located generally at 276 North Spring Creek Parkway. This was later approved in the same

meeting.

� Bob Fortheringham, Cache County Water Manager,

discussed support of matching funds to study water bro-

kering and aquifer storage and recovery options for

Cache County and its citizens.

� Brian Olsen discussed the damage to gardens and

landscaping caused by deer.

� The Council adopted a resolution adjusting the 2009

budgets for all funds.

� The Council continued consideration on a resolution

approving the Final Plat, Development Agreement, and

Addendum to the Development Agreement for the Hill-

crest Subdivision Phase 1, a 15-lot residential subdivi-

sion located generally at 850 South 400 East. This will

be brought back at the next meeting.

� The Council adopted a resolution reappointing Alma H.

Leonhardt to the Cache County Transit District Board.

� The Council continued consideration on a resolution

Santa Claus is Coming To Town!

Santa Claus will be visiting Providence on Saturday, December 6 and he wants to know how good you’ve been. Bring the kids to see him at the City

Office between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

Don’t forget because Christmas is only a few weeks away!

Christmas Tree Recycling:

Providence City drop sites for Christmas tree recycling will be Von’s Park, 350 East Center and Zollinger Park, 50 North 200 West. Last day for collection of trees will be January 13, 2009. Call 716-9792 with questions.

� SESQUICENTENNIAL EVENT: These events will be held

throughout the year “2009”. We are looking for committee

volunteers to help plan this event. If interested, please call

closed on December 25 & 26 for Christmas and January 1

for New Years Day.

� DISTRICT 7 SOCCER: Registration for District 7 Soccer

will be held at the City Office Building on January 31, 2009

p.m. These will be the only dates for District 7 Soccer regis-

� SNACK STAND MANAGER: Baseball season is just

around the corner. Providence is looking for a qualified,

dedicated individual who would be interested in managing

the Snack Stand at Zollinger Park for the season. The sea-

All dogs (big, small, indoor, outdoor) residing in Providence need to be licensed through the city. License renewals for 2009 are now available at the City Office, 15 South Main. Proof of your animals rabies shot will need to be provided to the city, so make an appointment to get needed vaccinations before late fees are charged. Late

fees will be charged after January 31, 2009.

This is a reminder that building permits are only good for 180 days. After the 180 days that permit becomes void and you are required to get a new per-mit. If you have a building permit with the City please make sure to call and get an in-spection before it expires. (435) 752-9441 ext. 14.

Remember, if you have a basement permit, please make sure to call and schedule an inspection. Let’s get them finalized. Thanks!

Green Waste Collection:

Green Waste Collection has ended for the winter months. The Green Waste programs will start up again in April 2009 with community bins and weekly curbside collection ($4/month). Green Waste materi-als (including grass, leaves, hay, straw, manure and non-invasive weeds) may still be taken to the Logan Landfill’s Green Waste Facility for FREE during the winter months.
