Meeting Facilities • Safety &

Security Information

SaFETY & SECURITYYour safety and the security of your personal property are of the utmost concern to those of us who welcome you as our guest. We urge your to take advantage of the following suggestions.

SaFE DEPOSIT bOxES Do not leave money or valuables in your room. If you have an item that needs to be secured, please see the Front Desk for the availability of a safe deposit box. Under state law, the hotel is not responsible for loss unless articles have been properly secured in these boxes.

DEaDbOLTS anD SaFETY LOCkS For added security, please make use of the deadbolt on your entry door. Use of this bolt will prevent the door from being opened by a standard room key. As an additional precaution, you may also secure the safety lock or chain.

aDmITTanCE Never admit anyone into your room without first identifying the individual. A door viewer has been provided for this purpose. Also, never sit in your room with the door open and never invite strangers to your room. If there is any doubt about a person’s true identity, please contact the Front Desk.

kEYS Safeguard your key. Do not write your room number on your key or give the key to others. Avoid placing your key near your mobile phone or anything magnetized. Be sure to return your key to the Front Desk upon departure.

VEHICLES Do not leave any valuables in your vehicle. Be certain to hide any wires or adaptors and to lock the vehicle when you leave it. The hotel is not responsible for loss, damage or theft of vehicle or its contents.

EnTRanCES Check all doors and windows in your room to ensure that they are properly secured. Exterior hotel doors are locked from 11:00pm to 7:00am.

PaRkInG Always scan the area before entering large parking lots or venturing onto grounds areas. If you notice something or someone suspicious, do not continue into that area. Return to your room or to a house phone and contact management. Please contact the Front Desk if you would like a staff member to escort you to your vehicle.

SURROUnDInG aREaS Not all areas of any city that you visit will be safe. Contact management about the safety of an area before venturing into it.

FIRE SaFETYLike all buildings, hotels can have a fire. Plan what to do when you check-in.

You will not have time to plan during a fire.

1. If there is any indication or even suspicion of a fire, call the hotel operator immediately. Provide your name, room number, and a brief description of the situation.

2. If you are traveling with others, determine an outdoor meeting location so you will know that everyone is safe.

3. Feel the door with the palm of your hand. If the door knob is warm, do not open it.

4. If the door is cool, slowly crouch down and open it - but be ready to slam the door should a cloud of smoke roll in. If the hallway is clear, head for the nearest exit (not the elevator). Be sure to close the door behind you and take your key with you.

5. Do not stand upright, but crawl or keep low to the floor to avoid smoke and odorless carbon monoxide. Stay on the same side of the hall as you exit, counting the number of doors to the exit.

6. When you reach the exit, walk quickly but cautiously down the stairs and hold onto the handrails as you go. If there is smoke in the exit stairwell, do not try to run through it. Turn around and walk back up. Proceed to a smoke-free corridor and to an alternate exit.

7. If you are unable to leave your room, make every effort to notify someone that you are in your room. If you cannot reach the hotel operator, call 911 and identify your exact location. Signal to the rescue workers by hanging a bed sheet from your window.

8. If there is smoke in your room, open the window. Do not break the glass unless it is absolutely necessary because heavier smoke may begin to enter from outside.

9. Fill the bathtub with water. Wet towels and sheets and stuff them around the door and any vent which is allowing smoke to enter the room. If the door and walls are hot, bail water on them with your ice bucket to keep them cool.

10. Place the mattress up against the door, and use the dresser to hold it in place. Once again, use the ice bucket to keep the mattress wet. Keep everything wet.

11. To prevent smoke inhalation, tie a wet towel in the shape of a triangle and tie it around your nose and mouth. Put the corner of the towel in your mouth.

12. If there is fire outside the window, pull down the drapes and remove all flammable items from that area.

13. Do not jump from your room, especially if you are on the third floor. A fall from this height can cause serious injury. Rather, continue to protect yourself from the fire and signal from your window for help.
