Guasee a ship at the start of the installation of, with all previous razor wire removed.
GUARDIAN™ is currently protecting nearly two hundred ships
across the globe, and at any one time can be seen on vessels
in major ports around the maritime world. Two of the five
largest shipping companies in the world have invested in
GUARDIAN for anti-piracy measures.
Why choose GUARDIAN?
Unlike razor wire, GUARDIAN is easy to install, can be moved
between vessels, does not need removing at port and is safe
for crew to handle.
GUARDIAN acts as a highly visible deterrent and is an
affordable solution to the issue of unwanted boarding at sail,
anchor, or port. In comparison to razor wire the cost can
generally be recovered in 12/18 months, providing an
additional 3-4 years of cover after which the units can then be
sold on for recycling.
GUARDIAN Installation:
Please use your zoom slide to increase picture size.
Here we see a ship at the start of the installation of GUARDIAN, totally unprotected, with all previous razor wire removed.
Picture taken from inboard during installation process, unused units on the deck in the foreground.
Ship towards the end of installation only the pilot ladder area is unprotected, and liferaft section near the stern.
Installation complete and ship fully protected by GUARDIAN, the only sections to be removed are those protecting mooring operational equipment.
Here we see a ship at the start of the installation of unprotected, with all previous razor wire removed.
With the advent of slow steaming has also come the
increased risk of opportunist pirate attacks. If your vessel
has razor wire as its first or only line of defence it is more
vulnerable than ever; pirates can now dispose of razor
wire with ease.
Proof of the effectiveness of GUARDIAN was shown during
an attack on a container ship by pirates off the coast of
Nigeria in May 2013. The attack lasted some considerable
time but failed. The ship had her poop deck protected by
GUARDIAN. Since that incident all four of the Africa group
ships have had GUARDIAN installed at main deck level – a
true measure of confidence in GUARDIAN from a
respected member of the shipping world.
GUARDIAN in action:
GUARDIAN – maximum protection
This is three units of Guardian joined
together to cover a double fairlead.
This picture shows the three units in the picture above now in place covering and protecting the double fairlead on the left. Two units were also joined together to cover the single fairlead on the right.
This picture shows the effect of the installations shown above and how the fairlead protection would look to anyone approaching the ship from the sea.
GUARDIAN - a flexible solution
This picture shows unprotected ships rails in the foreground. And the effect after GUARDIAN is installed in the background.
Please note the engineer in the background who would be invisible to any pirates within attack distance of the ship.
Here we see how GUARDIAN units were adapted to join the slope of the Forcastle.
This picture shows GUARDIAN on a long stretch of ships rail and protecting a Panama Chock. Please note the GUARDIAN units follow the contours of the ships rail demonstrating how flexible but tough the material and product is.
GUARDIAN – a visual deterrent
Stern side of poop deck notice how much GUARDIAN adapts to cope with the new 90% corner. Also notice liferaft still compliant with Solace regulations.
Ship fully protected by GUARDIAN from a pirates eye view. Also a highly visual deterent from considerable distance.
This is how GUARDIAN is stacked to be shipped - 12 to 18 high with 300 in a 40@ container.
GUARDIAN is currently protecting several of the world’s fleets,
including two of the largest:-
Maersk Line
Maersk Tankers
CMA-CGM
Norbulk
BW Tankers
Norgas
Guardian is also busy in the oil exploration world where it is
currently protecting Anadarko assets.
A recent comparison between GUARDIAN anti-piracy barriers
vs razor wire over a 5 year period fitted on a Panamax tanker,
showed a staggering saving of 89%!
