Ag Summit Highlights TheAgSummit,heldinVacavilleonMay26,wasattendedby~90farmers,landowners,agencyrepresentatives,andothermembersofthepublic.AttendeesdiscussedtheprinciplestheywishtoseeintheGSAformationprocessandfilledoutasurvey.Fullmeetingnotesareavailablehere.

Finally,someindividualsexpressedconcernthatthesurveycollectedattheAgSummit,whichaskedpeopletoindicatewhichagenciestheyfeltmostcomfortablerepresentingthem,waspresentedtoattendeesbeforetheyweregivenenoughinformationabouthowSGMAwouldimpactthem.Thesurveyresultsshouldbeconsideredlightly,asaresult.AgInnovationshassynthesizedhighlevelthemesintheversiontobesharedwiththepublic,andwillnotsharethedetailedresultsdocumentationunless/untilwegetmorerobustdata.Draft Proposal Review Discussion PriortothisJune2meeting,anumberofdraftproposalswerecirculatedamongstGSAGmembersfordiscussionandreview.EachdistinctgovernanceproposalwaspresentedintheGSAGmeetingbythepersonwhowroteorformulatedit.Keyprinciplesfromeachproposalwerehighlighted,andthegrouphadachancetoaskclarifyingquestions.

● AsingleentityidentifiesastrongerauthoritytocommunicatewithDWRandwillresultinamorestreamlinedprocessandcontrolstructure.Asingleentitycouldmaintaintheindependenceofanadvisorycommitteeorgovernanceboard.

● Becauseoftheout-of-basinnatureofSolanoCountyandSCWA,somepeoplewereuncomfortableutilizingeitherentityastheGSA.Thisposesamajorbarrier.

Brookingclosedthisdiscussionwithavote:EachparticipantwasaskedtovoteonmovingforwardwithaGSAmadeupofseveralentitiesboundbyaJPAorMOA,asopposedtomovingforwardwithaGSAembodiedbyasingleentity,eitherSCWAorSolanoCounty.
