THE PONT DU GARD, A STORY OF PASSIONIt is remarkably preserved and is the highest of all aqueduct bridges, built by the Romans in just 5 years!

This construction with impressive architecture has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1985. Almost 2,000 years ago now, the bridge meant that the inhabitants of the city of Nimes could access running water.

TO THE TOP OF THE BRIDGE! To really make the most of the wealth of this majestic monument which showcases the sheer brilliance of a whole civilisation, take advantage of the guided tour which takes you all the way up to the 3rd floor of the Bridge. You will be able to look down upon the canal where there was running water in Roman times.

Walk on flat ground and travel to the 3rd floor via an open-air staircase (around one hundred steps), not accessible to PRM and pushchairs.

A guide will tell you all you need to know about the Pont du Gard. You will discover the history of this masterpiece of the aqueduct of Nimes and feel the true splendour of a monument built in the midst of a remarkable natural environment.

The Pont du Gard is nestled at the heart of a remarkable Mediterranean natural environment. It is primarily well-known due to the fact it is a major part of a 50-kilometer-long aqueduct. During this visit you will discover some unknown treasures which are hidden from sight: engravings into the rock, a prehistoric shelter and much more. This is an original visit which takes you through the history of the site.
