Greetings from Kabafita Lower Basic School in
The Gambia. How are you all in
England? We hope you are all well
and we are so glad you are our
friends.
We are all very excited. We are going on a school trip. We are going to visit the crocodile
farm at Kachikally
near Bakau.
We have all been reading stories
about crocodiles in English – like
this one by Roald Dahl called “The
Enormous Crocodile”
Here we all are at the crocodile farm at Kachikally, near Bakau
The pool has over 100 crocodiles. The water is very green – like pea soup. It is over 500 years old. The pool is very famous in The Gambia and is a sacred pool. It is believed that women who are bathed in the pool become very fertile. So women who are having trouble having a
baby travel many miles to the pool.
Some of the crocodiles have seen so many human visitors they have become tame and you can stroke
them!
Have you ever stroked a crocodile?
We all have now!
We like crocodiles. We
even have one on our one dalasi
coin.
We really enjoyed our visit to the
crocodile farm. Now I want to tell you a
joke. A man goes in to a cafe and he says I
want a crocodile sandwich and can
you make it snappy?
We are going to have a go at
narrating two crocodile stories.
We will record
them. And send them
to you.
We are going to say Good
bye now. We hope you
enjoyed the presentation. And we hope we will hear
from you soon. Bye.
