$21,635 AVERAGE FINANCIAL AID PACKAGEThe cost of a private Christian education may be more affordable than you think. Greenville College offers financial assistance in the form of merit awards and need-based awards. We also work with students to accept federal and state grants, low-interest loans, and work study opportunities.

LESS DEBTGC graduates had an average debt of $23,976 compared to the Illinois average debt amount of $28,028 and the national average of $29,400 for 2012 grads (projectonstudentdebt.org). That means Greenville College students have about 15% less debt than their counterparts.

$180 - $275/MONTH LOAN REPAYMENTBased on GC’s average student loan debt, monthly payments range from $180 to $275 after graduation depending on the loan term (finaid.org/calculators/loanpayments.phtml).

1. Cash PaymentAll semester charges, less approved financial aid, are due before you can officially complete registration. Make check or money order payable to Greenville College. Payments may be made with a MasterCard, Discover, or American Express credit card. (Each semester’s bill is due approximately two weeks prior to the first day of classes.)

2. Monthly Payment PlanA monthly payment plan is available for students/parents wishing to pay accounts over a 8-12 month period. Specific details about the program will be mailed in the spring. Contact the Student Account Office for more information.

3. Federal Parent PLUS Loans or Alternative LoansMany families take additional loans to pay any balance left on the student’s bill. Information is available on this brochure about your loan options.

HOW TO PAYYou must have a payment plan approved by the Student Accounts Office before you are allowed to complete registration. Payment options are listed below.

Through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the federal government determines a minimum amount the family is expected to contribute to the student’s educational expenses (EFC = Expected Family Contribution) based upon student and family resources. Regardless of the school the student chooses to attend, the EFC remains constant. The student’s need varies depending upon the cost of the school attended.

For example, Sam is considering 3 different colleges, each having a different cost of attendance. Since his EFC was determined to be $1,896, his “financial need” varies with each institution. Each institution will put together a financial aid package and try to meet as much of Sam’s financial need as possible.
