On the occasion of Diamond Jubilee celebration, National Safety Council –

Maharashtra Chapter in collaboration with Directorate Industrial Safety & Health,

Maharashtra State organizing a prestigious 'Best Safety Practices Award 2015' for all

member and non – member Industrial organizations in the state of Maharashtra. We are

inviting nominations from all the industries in various categories.

The Best Safety Practice Award is one of the main elements of the Healthy

workplace campaign and is designed to highlight the best examples of management and

employees working together for accident prevention. The awards aim to demonstrate the

benefits of subsequent good safety & health practices.

Winner will be expected to present strong management leadership and active

worker participation in safety & health. The judges will be looking for the best examples of

mutual collaboration of management &employees and benefits of innovative ideas. Entries

are welcome from all industries, construction sites & IT industries. Winners will be

presented their awards at the ceremony organize in the month of October/November 2015

at Mumbai (Details for same will be published after completion of the competition).

RULES AND REGULATIONS

To give recognition to industrial undertakings for their Safety lead indicators and

leadership and to encourage their further commitment to occupational health Safety and

environment, National Safety Council – Maharashtra Chapter in collaboration with

Directorate Industrial Safety & Health, Maharashtra State is organizing the inter industrial

Best Safety Practices Competition. The awards are given in recognition of their efforts for

attainment of a consistent level of achievement in “Safety Management” by the winning

establishments. Encouraged with the response to the scheme, it is being continued.

The industrial Best Safety Practices Competition is open to all industries in state of

Maharashtra.

Two best Awards will be given in each Categories mentioned below.

CATEGORY OF INDUSTRY

1) Textiles (All)-Composite mills, Spinning and/or Weaving and/or Processing & Hosiery.

2) Oils, Fats & Soaps.

3) Chemicals (All) - Fertilizers, Man-Made Fiber, Petroleum and Petrochemicals

(excluding L.P.G., Petrol, Oil & Lubricant, Storage & Handling), Distilleries, Tanneries,

Solvent Extraction Plants (As independent units only).

4) Heavy Engineering Industries - Machine Tools, Electrical Machinery, Foundries,

Transport (All), Automobiles Industries, Basic Metals, Ship Building and Repairing.

5) Light Engineering Industry - Electrical, Audio, Video and other Household & Industrial

Appliances & Switch Boards, Paper Products, Leather Products, Printing (by letter

press, lithograph, photogravures, rotary, computer printing).

6) Paper, Sugar & Pharmaceutical.

7) Food Products Industries, including Dairy, Poultry Products, Beverages, Cigarettes,

Confectionery, Fish Canning and Fruit Canning.

8) Glass and Ceramics (including pottery, brick manufacture, tiles making etc.).

9) LPG, Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (Storage and Handling Installations).

10) Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution.

11) Explosives, Ammunition and Matches.

12) Construction Industry

13) Cement Industry, and

14) Miscellaneous.

Awards will be given provided there are minimum 3 entries under any of the

groups. If there are less than 3 entries under any of the groups mentioned above, such

entries will be grouped under Miscellaneous Group. Awards Committee may alter the group

or the allotment of any group at its discretion.

For said competition entire Maharashtra state will be divided in six regional groups as

under:

From above group no. V has been covered by Vidharbha Best Safety Practices Award

competition 2015 (Organised by NSC – MC - Vidharbha Action Centre) and therefore same

will be omitted. The winners from this group will be directly entered in to final

competition.

For remaining groups presentations will be organised at following cities.

Group – I Mumbai Group – III Kolhapur Group – VI Aurangabad

Group – II Pune Group - IV Nashik

(The Venue and date for presentation of each group will be conveyed in due course of time)

The final competition will be organised at Mumbai after selection of winners from regional

groups. (Details for same will be published after completion of the competition).

10 Minutes for presentation

5 Minutes for question and answer session with jury.

Each team (Team consists of two members', one from management cadre and one from

workers) will be given 10 minutes for presentation & juries will judge them by asking some

questions based on their presentation.

The winners of the Best Safety Practices competition will be presented their awards and a

certificate of participation at the ceremony organize in the month of October/November

2015 at Mumbai (Details for same will be published after completion of the competition).

Executive committee of NSC-MC in consultation with DISH will decide team of jury members

and decision of jury will be final. The jury committee shall assess the presentations and

announce the awards. For the purpose of assessment of the entries, the jury committee will

ask questions on presentations. The decision of the jury committee for selection of winners

shall be final, and no objection, discussion in this regard will be entertained by the NSC-MC.

NSC-MC reserved rights to visit the factory to check the actual implementation of safety.

Rs.10000/- per team (Team consists of two members', one from manag-

ement cadre and one from workers) Members who want to attend the function apart from

team members will have to pay additional Rs.3000/- per day per person + Service Tax @14%.

Entry forms are to be sent on or before 31st August 2015. Incomplete entry forms are likely

to be rejected.
