E-PORTFOLIO
Hello my name is Michelle Watson and welcome to my e-portfolio. Just a little background history about me, my designs are based on my experiences and knowledge I have gained as a graphic designer for the past 8 years. My designing background stems from my Associate of Art Sciences in Graphic Design, Bachelor of Science in
Graphic Communication – Concentration in Multimedia-Web Publishing, Certificate in Web Design from Boston University, and Masters in Internet Marketing; as well as hands-on work in the field as a graphic designer. To further expound on my knowledge and skills of graphic design, I continue to attend workshops and training in my field.
Since I can remember I have always wanted to be an artist but did not know what career path I wanted to take in the
arts. When I graduated from high school I was determined to find out what my true calling was, so I enrolled into college. Through several trials and tribulations in my quest, I’ve discovered that I want to pursue a career in Graphic Design and become a professional graphic designer.
My way of designing is to create innovative concepts that will compliment the design needs of clients, determine the message that the design conveys and appeal to customers or users. As a designer, I approach my designs not just by using an artistic eye but to use it as though I am the audience viewing the design for the first time. This approach helps me to see if I am in the right direction of visual appeal. Overall, being a designer is more than just putting images or designs elements together, but as a way of communicating a message intelligently yet visually memorable.

Dear Student Intern,
Welcome to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Our student intern program is designed to give you an opportunity to gain valuable work experience, while also providing you with developmental opportunities. President Barack Obama has pledged to implement student loan repayment programs for those college graduates that dedicate their service to the public sector. It is our goal to ensure that you see the benefits of working in the public sector and at the FDIC.
The FDIC is committed to providing you with the skills that are necessary to succeed in your career. Our hope is that you will be able to transfer the knowledge that you have obtained here and apply it to any future job and endeavor.
We hope that your student intern career experience will be enjoyable and unforgettable. We encourage you to take this opportunity to acquire new skills, meet new people, and provide us with ideas to continue to enhance the student intern program. We look forward to working with you this summer and having you as part of our organization.
Sincerely,
The Student Intern Program Coordinators

WorkLife Program Statement The WorkLife Program supports the FDIC mission by providing WorkLife alternatives that address rapidly changing business requirements while recognizing the differing priorities and needs of our employees. Our vision is to create a workplace where employees can perform to their maximum potential while living healthy, balanced lives.
Career Management Program StatementThe Career Management Program (CMP) assists employees to better manage their careers. It provides career planning, career counseling, reference tools and related resources (such as career counseling, books, and lunch and learn sessions). We encourage student interns to schedule one-on-one appointments with the career counselors to learn how to maximize their internship experience and add the experience to a résumé that clearly reflects the duties, accomplishments, and competencies they gained.
Increasing Your Presentation & Writing Skills ProgramThe FDIC developed an interactive training program for student interns on business writing skills and presentation skills. Each student will receive a USB device which includes the following topics: Building an Internship Portfolio on Presentations; What Makes a Good FDIC Memo; Sample Oral Presentations; and Learning Plan of Action. It also contains links to SkillSoft courses determined to strengthen your writing and presentation skills. This device will not only be a powerful training tool, but it will prove to be a valuable resource, as well.
