Little Leigh Website

The new village web site is up and running at www.littleleigh.org. This has been completely redesign

ed and will display properly on a full range of devices such as computer, tablets, mobile phones etc.

The principle purpose of the site is to meet the Parish Council obligations to open government, listing

meeting agendas, minutes and financial expenditure and identifying your Parish councillors and how

to contact them.

We still have a number of things to add to the site which will be rolled out in the next few months. This

will include a diary of the village hall bookings and village events. We are investigating a system for

booking the village hall through the web.

Anyone familiar with the old village web site will notice that there was a lot of village history contained

on the site. This has not been carried over to the new web site as we do not have the resources to

manage it. The information is not lost as it will be moved to the Wikipedia page for Little Leigh in due

course. This is a much more sustainable and democratic arrangement as anyone can register to put

information on Wikipedia. Hopefully the content will grow and become much more dynamic than we

have been able to sustain to date.

I invite anyone who would like to become involved in maintaining the Little Leigh content on Wikipedia

to contact me via [email protected] if they want to know more.

Village Hall Sound System Installed A surround sound music system has been bought and installed in the village hall. This consists of reasonably powerfull amplifier, five large speakers, a dvd player and the required wiring. This can

be connected to the film projector and was run in to general approval on the last film night giving a much clearer sur-round sound (just like at the cinema) than we have previously been used to. The DVD player will also play CDs and a bluetooth device has been added to enable music to be played wirelessly from mobile phones and tablets and other bluetooth enabled devices. This will allow people booking the hall for social events to bring and play their own music with the minimum amount of fuss and no need to connect any wires. The hall has a PRS licence to play recorded music so there is nothing to stop it being fully used. The equipment is fairly simple to use and instructions will be posted by on the wall near the amplifier on how to con-nect to the bluetooth and play dvds and cds. Bob King

Comberbach 2 is down to the final 3 blockages stop-ping the fibre. There has been a wayleave dispute (to gain landowner permissions to do works on their land) involving the location of the blockages which has delayed this cabinet, which we now have a reso-lution to and can press on with the blockages. All being well we should get to finished by some point in January. Tony Morgan Contract Director | BT Group | Tel: 0131 448 4467 |

Little Leigh Youth Club.

Little Leigh Youth Club is looking forward to 2017 in good spirits. We are enjoying increased numbers (there are still places available for girls and boys who are 8years old and

over). We meet in The Village Hall on Fridays during term at 6.45p.m.- 8.00p.m. We are hoping to make a lucky start on Friday 13th!

The Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme The simplest, greenest and most charitable way to get rid of your Christmas tree. We all ‘joyfully’ choose our Christmas tree and transport it home ready to dress for the festive period. However after 12th night when it’s needles are dropping the thought of taking it to the tip or chop-ping it up to fit into your bin is less appealing.

So, did you know St Luke’s and a team of volunteers will collect your tree on the weekend of 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th January 2017. We work with our own hospice volunteers and our lovely friends from Rotary and Round Table, SP Energy and Melody Corporation and we are also supported by Reaseheath Col-lege, East Cheshire Council, Holmes Chapel Scouts and ANSA. The trees will then be chipped and shredded and the chips recycled. You can book your collection by visiting www.charityxmastreecollection.com. please e-mail [email protected] or ring 01606 555688.

Our daughter had a Ball in the Village Hall!

We had 26 five year olds, 15 grownups, a bouncy castle and 10 cute and furry animals including a Barn Owl that Har-ry Potter would have been proud of. Little Leigh Village Hall was the perfect venue for our daughter’s 5th birthday party. The Hall itself having been newly refurbished and deco-rated and offers a modern, spacious and very functional kitchen. Such a pretty spot too sitting in a very rural location opposite the Church of St Michaels and framed by ma-ture hedgerows and trees. The hire charges are more than reasonable and very competitive with other compa-rable halls. So why not take a look for yourself and remem-ber your local Village Hall when considering a venue away from your home or busi-ness. Lisa Williamson

Elsie and family would like to thank everyone for the flow-

ers, cards and calls received on the occasion of Malc’s death, and the prayers and support

of Baptist Chapel and St Michael’s Church which were most

appreciated. Elsie Evans

20 is Plenty! The Parish Council has been ap-proached to investigate the possi-

bility of having a 20mph speed limit near the school. It is understood that CWaC will be con-sidering speed limits around all schools in the coming two years. Please drive carefully espe-cially at the start and finish of the school day. Thanks for your co-operation.
