The HOA hopes that through these additional forms of communication residents will be more in tune with the news and events that impact our neighborhood.

Sonoma Board Appoints New DirectorThe Sonoma HOA Board of Directors has appointed Alexander

Valley Cove resident Ginette Brady to fill the vacant Director’s position on the Board. Ginette will fulfill the remaining term of the position which expires at the next Annual Meeting this August.

Ginette has been a resident of Sonoma for five years and a regular contributor to the HOA Board’s regular meetings. She has worked as a paralegal in Austin for the past 12 years.

In applying to the Board for the position Ginette stated “I have a particular interest in participating in the HOA in order to help my fellow homeowners maintain a safe, beautiful, and friendly community life in Sonoma.”

Sonoma Celebrates the SeasonDozens of Sonoma families filled the Barefoot Park on

Saturday, December 13th to celebrate the holiday season. The children enjoyed holiday cookie making, crafts and, of course, a visit by Santa Clause himself.

After the event, several residents dispersed throughout the neighborhood and tied red ribbons and bows on over 50 stone pillars.

The HOA Board of Directors would like to thank all those who volunteered for this event. Without them it wouldn’t have been possible. Keep an eye on this newsletter for upcoming Sonoma Social Committee events.

Following is a list of suspicious activities that might be happening:

PEOPLE…..An unusual grouping of people: may be

burglary, arson, or drug dealing.Behaving strangely: possibly on drugs or

preparing to do some illegal activity.With any sort of weapon: possibly planning

any number of crimesCarrying, concealing or transporting

anything; may be burglar carrying stolen goods, especially if the property is unwrapped and normally would be.

Creating foot traffic to and from a particular place, short visits. possible involvement with drugs, vice, or fencing.

Wearing clothing, caps, bandannas, or other attire that could present problems: maybe gang activity

Fleeing while carrying something or running at night: possible suspect fleeing scene of crime

Creating any type of disturbance: disturbing the peace or covering up noise of an activity

Going door to door, especially if someone goes to the rear of the residence: possibly casing the neighborhood or seeking an unsecured entry into the residence

Loiters around schools, parks or on your street: possible burglar, sex offense, drugs or arson

Screams for help: possible rape, medical emergency, robbery, assault or fire

Offering items for sale at extremely low prices: possible trying to sell stolen property

A stranger with young children or teenagers in an unusual place or for an unusual period of time: possible sex crimes of seeking sex or pimping

Family Favorite Ranch ChickenMakes 4 servingsBrining Recipe

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts1/4 cup salt1 quart water

Coating1 cup all purpose flour, divided2 eggs, lightly beaten 1/2 cup corn flake crumbs (can be purchased in baking isle or you can make your own with corn flakes and a food processor) 1 2oz package dry ranch dressing/dip mix

Topping 1 2 oz package dry ranch dressing/dip mix 4 tablespoons cold butter, cut into 1/4 inch cubes1 tablespoon all purpose flour

BrineCombine salt and water and mix until salt is dissolved.

Rinse chicken and put in 1 gallon zipper bag. Add water/salt mixture and put in refrigerator for 30 minutes, but no longer than 1 hour. When brining is complete, drain and rinse chicken thoroughly. Pat dry with paper towels.

Preheat oven to 360 degrees and line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. Place oven safe cooling racks* on foil-lined sheets. Spray racks with non-stick cooking spray. Coating

Add 1/2 cup flour to shallow dish. Add slightly beaten eggs to shallow dish. Whisk corn flake crumbs, dry ranch mix and remaining 1/2 cup flour and put in shallow dish. Dredge chicken in flour, shaking off excess, then in egg and then in corn flake crumb mix. Put coated chicken onto cooling racks. Topping

Put dry ranch mix, butter and flour in small bowl. Using your fingers, crumble ingredients together. Divide topping into 4 parts (1 heaping tablespoon) and press onto top of each chicken breast. Cook chicken in middle of oven, for 30-40 minutes and internal temperature reaches 180 degrees.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAMBEFORE YOu lEAVE HOME

Going away? Burglars hope to avoid confrontations, so make your home look occupied! Leave lights on and the radio playing, preferably a talk show, when you go out. Keep your garage door closed and locked. Use inexpensive timing devices to turn inside lights and radio on and off at different times. If no one will be at home for more than a few days, arrange to have someone pick up the mail and newspapers. Have deliveries stopped.

· Plan your trip and give the itinerary with emergency phone numbers to a trusted friend or neighbor.

· Do not hide house keys in mailboxes, planters or under doormats.

· Place identification tags on the inside and outside of your luggage. Use your first initial and last name only.

· Install good locks on your doors and windows and be sure to use them.

· Make sure all valuable are engraved with your driver’s license number and expiration date.

· Make a record of your credit card and travelers check numbers and keep it in a safe place.

· Make arrangements to have your lawn watered and mowed.· Use timers for interior lights and radios. Make your house look

“lived in”.· Make arrangements for the care of your pets.· Purchase a prepaid phone card.Operation Identification is a citizen’s burglary prevention program

for use in homes. The Operation ID program involves the marking of property with an identifying number as a means of discouraging burglary and theft. In communities where is has been properly implemented, Operation ID has shown dramatic results in its ability to reduce burglaries.
