Installation of GKS Insert the CD ROM in your disc drive. If AutoPlay is turned on in your computer you will be presented
with the Initial Install Screen License (Figure 1). If the installation does not start open Computer (My
Computer on XP), double click on your CD/DVD drive. Find the file labeled gksver (followed by a number
depending on the version) and double click on it. If you are asked to Run, Allow or Continue please
agree.

Click on Next. File extraction will begin (Figure 2).

When file extraction is finished the following dialog will be presented (Figure 3).

The following part of the installation is done automatically using an AutoHotkey Script after you press
OK. It is possible that your anti virus may detect this as a virus and disable the script from running. If
the script runs you will see the install for Karaoke for Directx run automatically, however if the script has
been disabled and the screen does not move from the initial Karaoke for Directx install screen please
install Karaoke for DirectX with the default options (just click Next and OK). After the install the
following screens will be shown (Figure 4,5).

If you do not know whether you have a 32 or 64 bit version of Windows, right click on Computer (My
Computer in XP) and select properties. In this screen you will be informed of what version of Windows
that you have (Figure 6 XP is similar, Vista shown).

After answering the preceding question another script will run which will initially set some options for
Karaoke for DirectX. If after this script runs you are asked whether the control ran successfully please
answer Yes. The following screens will be displayed (Figure 7, 8).

Troubleshooting
Cancel, Ignore, Suspend Error There is an error trapping routine contained in the program. However if an error occurs within the first
couple of lines of the program or when the program is shutting down the error trapping routine is not in
effect. If you do receive one of these errors please press cancel. If the error has happened at the very
start of the program please open the program directory (c:\karaokemp – click on computer, then local
hard disc c:, and then finally karaokemp). Delete the files karaoke.dbf and settings.ini. Restart Grahams
Karaoke System. This will force the program to recreate all the database files from backups of your file
lists and it will create a new settings.ini file.
OLE Error Please open the program directory (c:\karaokemp – click on computer, then local hard disc c:, then
karaokemp and finally comctl). If you have a 32 bit version of Windows right click on reregister.bat and
select Run As Administrator (Vista and 7, just run in XP). If you have a 64 bit version right click on
reregister64.bat and select Run As Administrator (Vista and 7, just run in XP). You should receive three
registration succeeded boxes. Repeat in the c:\karaokemp\redist directory where you should receive six
registration succeeded boxes. See figures (9 through 14).

Graphics Not Displaying Grahams Karaoke and DJ System requires a minimum of DirectX 9.0c and in XP the Windows Media 9
Runtime installed. To determine the version of DirectX you have please type in your start menu
“Dxdiag” (without the quotes) – Run and then Dxdiag in the command line box in Windows XP

When asked whether you wish to check for signed drivers select yes. The dx diagnostic screen will
display (Figure 16). At the very bottom check the version of DX. Then click Exit. If required download
the direct updates directly from Microsoft.

To update the Windows Media Runtime please open Computer. Navigate to c:\karaokemp\redist.
Locate the file wmfdist.exe and run it. Agree to any license conditions. Restart your computer.
No Graphics Some Songs, Double Graphics on SAV discs Click on your start menu. Click on Programs or All Programs and find Karaoke for DirectX. Click on
Karaoke Settings and then the CDG tab (Figure 17). Make sure that all channels are checked except for
channels 8 and 9. In XP ensure that use Microsoft Video Mixing Renderer are checked. In Vista and 7
ensure that this is unchecked. Click on the text and font tab and in XP ensure that use Microsoft Video
Mixing Renderer are checked. In Vista and 7 ensure that this is unchecked. Press OK. If asked whether
this control panel worked correctly answer Yes.

After finishing the appropriate steps please restart the program and see if the problem has been
corrected.
