S. and Canada. 1939 ENGAGEMENTS: Albert Alleva to Miss Paula Savino. Miss Savino teaches in the public school system, while Albert is now manager of a travel bureau. They are plan- ning a trip to Europe after their marriage in July. BIRTHS: A daughter, Ann Marie, to Dr. and Mrs. Nicholas Abramo on Mar . 7. A son, their first, to Mr. and Mrs. Pat McDonald on Mar. 19. Pat, on the AP photo desk, has three girls. Alumni sec- retary Charles Brecht has just been elected treasurer of the Metropolitan College Pub- lic Relations Council. 1941 MARRIAGES: Dr. Theodore Macaluso to Miss Sally Fazio of Ozone Park on Apr. 1 in All Saints Church, Brooklyn. A trip to Bermuda followed the ceremony. BIRTHS: A son, Richard Gerard, to the Ed McCarricks on Feb. 20 at St. Vincent's Hospital. The new baby was almost ten pounds. A daughter, Deirdre, to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Courtney on Feb. 2. Each month the number of St. John's alumni and students who have entered the armed forces becomes larger. Timmes '42C Graduate School Celebrates ''Rerum Novarum' ' Jubilee A series of four lectures to mark the sixtieth anniversary of the publication of Leo XIII' s encyclical on labor, "Re- rum Novarum," has been scheduled by St. John's Graduate School for April and May. The talks are being given in co- operation with the Council of Catholic Organizations for Social Order. Dr . Walter L. Willigan, chairman of the department of social studies, Gradu- ate School, will lead off on April 13 with an address on "Christian Social Ac- tion." This will be followed on April 20 with " The Place of Government in Eco- nomic Life" by Brother Justin, F.S.C., head of the labor-management depart- ment of Manhattan College. The final lectures will be "The Teach- ings of Leo XIII " by Rev. William Burke, S.J., lecturer on sociology, Grad- uate School, on May 4, and on May 11, "The Mystical Body of Christ In Our Workaday World," given by Mr. George K. Hunton , secretary of the Catholic In- terracial Council and lecturer at Ford- ham U. The lectures will be delivered at 4 p.m. in Room 301 of the Lewis Ave. building. Graduate School Celebrates ''Rerum Novarum'' Jubilee

A series of four lectures to mark the sixtieth anniversary of the publication of Leo XIII' s encyclical on labor, "Re­rum Novarum," has been scheduled by St. John's Graduate School for April and May.
