7. Yesterday, Luis finished his book. He just couldn’t put it down! The book was about a world far out in space. The main character, Sia, had to save the planet from an evil lord.

8. My stepsister, Eva, is the smartest person I know. She is taking algebra in sixth grade! Eva is also very nice. She always helps me if I need it on my math homework.

Kat bounced up and down on her toes, very excited, as always.

And as always, she spoke in a great, loud rush. “I can’t believe this

happened, Jamal! I bet that soccer ball is going to be stuck on the roof

for ever and ever, and we’ll never get it down!”

Jamal looked at the soccer ball sitting on the flatter part of the roof.

Jamal always thought before he spoke, and when he did speak, he used

a calm, quiet voice. “I think we just have to wait,” he said.

Kat groaned loudly. “It’ll never come down. There’s no way to get

to it, either!”

Jamal looked at the ball again, and nodded calmly. “The wind will

push it off the roof.”

That night, there was a

rainstorm with heavy winds.

1. People like to go to parades. Parades are fun to watch. They also are fun for the people who march in them.
