Writing
Learning Intention: We are learning to spell our focus words. Success Criteria: I can:
Study my focus words by completing an activity.
You will need:
crayons
Reading book or list of Oxford words
*There is a supporting document with the list of Oxford words.
Spelling activities Choose one spelling activity to complete. You can choose words you want to learn how to spell from your story (or choose some Oxford words that you want to learn how to spell).
Tic Tac Toe
Draw a grid and then take turns to write your focus words. First player to get 3 in a row wins.
Alphabetical order
Write all of your focus words on a piece of paper, cut them out and put them in alphabetical order.
Nature words
Have a look around your backyard or front yard. Collect objects you could use to create your focus words.
Rainbow Writing
Challenge:
Write any digraphs (two letters,
one sound) in the same colour and the other letters in a different colour.
Maths
Learning Intention: We are learning about subtraction. Success Criteria: I can:
Explain what subtraction means.
Use materials (counters) and a tens frame to work out subtraction problems.
Count backwards.
*There is an optional support document (tens frame) that you can print or draw your own. Subtraction from 10 Today you are learning about subtraction (take away). When you are doing subtraction, remember to always start with the biggest number.
For example: 10 take away 1 is 9.

Have you heard of the story called, ‘Crazy Hair Day?’
In Art today you will be creating some crazy hair for yourself
using a straw and some paint! Watch the video to learn about
your lesson.

You will need:
A drinking straw.
Food colouring or
water colour paint.
Coloured pencils.
Step 1) At the bottom of your page, draw a stretched
out lowercase letter ‘m.’ This will be your shoulders.
Next, draw 2 lines to make your neck.
Step 2) Draw a large oval shape to make your head.
(Make sure you leave some a whole hand space at the
top of your page for your hair.)
Step 3) Draw your eyes, nose, mouth and eyebrows.
Now you can colour in your picture.
Step 4) You are now ready to make some crazy hair!
You will need your straw, water colour paint and a
paint brush.

Step 5) Dip a paint brush into your water paint and
make a drop on top of the drawing of your head.
Next, use the straw to blow air onto the drop of water
and watch your paint spread across the page. Keep
adding drops of paint and using your straw to make
crazy lines of paint across your page. Change paint
colours and watch how different colours mix and are
made!
